We have been going to Nick and Son's since they open their bakery in Spring Lake, NJ. They offer the very best of everything which includes their delicious Croissants , breads, danishes, scones and world class coffee. The bakers and staff are top notch and offer world class service. During the holidays they offer the best pies ever. Don't miss out on the very best bakery in Monmouth County.
This is a croissant review. Needless to say it’s a very buttery croissant. More American style but the layers are well-defined without being an overkill of just air. Over-indexes on the flake aspect—it’s more of a shatter.
There’s a bit of a pizza-like after taste or essence to it which does alter the overall effect. If you’re looking for a pure butter flavor, you might not be a fan.
Their more bread-oriented fare are good :)

Not enough stars for Nick & Sons! Everything they make is incredible, I especially love the zaatar and chocolate croissants and cardamom bun. I know how difficult it is to keep things consistent due to humidity, proof time etc but compared to a lot of the bakeries in the area they do a really good job at not over/under baking. There could be a line most days but it goes fast and everyone’s super nice and friendly

I don’t know where to start from..,
As we were waking by today we decided to step inside. Was this the biggest mistake ever! From their delicious flakey soft buttery chocolate croissant to their artistic rosemary olive bread. I felt like I was in Paris. Love love love, my favorite bakery to go to when there.

Just found the best pain au chocolat in nyc. I did eat it fresh out of the oven to be fair. The pastry had the perfect balance of butter and flaky layers. I think bakeries try too hard to get this like puffy honeycomb but then it turns out too dry. This is the closest thing I’ve had to texture and flavor of a pain au chocolat from France. Also prices are great!

The fantastic taste of a croissant with a salty bread feel
If you're looking for the best croissant in Brooklyn,
this is the place to go.
The layers of bread are crispy on the outside ,inside is moist and the texture is alive with layers.
T.M.I🤫 arrived around 11am and didn't have much of a choice,
so I had the chocolate croissant, but if you're a diligent bread squirrel🐿️🥐🤎
be sure to try the popular almond chocolate croissant early in the morning.

The election of pastries looks good, but the biscuit was overcooked. Service was utilitarian.

Brooklyn vibes. No chairs, no tables, just a barebones display of pastries in a warehouse-like space, with the bread production happening visibly in the back.
Came here to pick up some pastries this past Tuesday morning. Heard rumors that this place has some of the best plain croissants in the city, and I was excited to finally try them out. Came in around 9am, and I was the only person there. I got the chocolate croissant, za’atar & cheddar croissant, and the famous cardamom bun, and honestly, it was slightly disappointing.
I’m not sure why the cardamom bun was highly recommended, but the bun itself was just alright. A bit too dense and apart from the subtle cardamom aroma, there wasn’t much to savor. The chocolate croissant was mostly hollow on the inside, so it felt dry and leaned too chewy.
Za’atar & cheddar croissant was the only thing I really enjoyed. Originally I wanted plain za’atar, but my friend recommended the one with cheddar. Glad I listened. Not buttery like a classic croissant, but the layers were very flaky, with a pillowy-soft interior. The za’atar and cheddar were also used in perfect amounts. Just enough to make the fluff inside more interesting without overpowering it.
Might come back to try their other croissants, but certainly not my favorite in the neighborhood.

One of the best, if not #1 croissant in NY. Great flavor, slight tanginess, yeastiness to the taste. Maybe Sourdough, not sure but whatever they are doing it's working. Ham and Cheese is awesome as well.

They sell out of popular pasties early in the morning. I got a cardamom bun and it was disappointing. The iced latte I got was pretty good through! There is no space to sear so you really just grab it and go.

Not sure how you can get away with a 4.75 small honey bun. Bad attitude from employees, small portions. Overall just a meh experience… get your attitude and sizing right, many other options in the neighborhood.

Exceptionally crispy croissant! The exterior was nice and crunchy, and the interior was incredibly fluffy. While it didn’t have as many layers as I’d hoped and the butter flavor, though present, wasn’t very strong, it was still a delightful croissant. The bakery itself consists of a warehouse with no seating, just a bar area.
