Took the family there for lunch after a walk on the Brighton Beach boardwalk. It did not disappoint! Excellent stuffed cabbage and soups. Very attentive service.

Tight tables, not easy to maneuver. Small 6 oz or less of fruit drink is $6 about 8 Oz of soup is $12. Literally Michelin star prices for a corner Ukranian coffee shop.

That was an excellent lunch. Now, I don’t know much about Eastern European food. But that was absolutely delicious. The sea bass and the chicken stroganoff were a delight. We had vareniki, borscht, and stuffed cabbage as apps, all of which were delicious too. And for dessert we had some blintzes with cheese and jelly that were the perfect send off. Not a bad price either, and the service was very quick and to the point (not a lot of small talk but I wouldn’t have expected it either). 100% would recommend

This place knows what diners want and delivers it all. They create food that impresses twice. We were acknowledged immediately by friendly staff. A good neighborhood place with flavorful options. The local scene needed this restaurant.

My buddy had a craving for borscht while we were on the east coast and with Brighton Beach being little Odessa, thats where we went. I randomly chose this place and when I walked in and saw pictures from the movie Lord of War on the wall (it was filmed here)... I fangirled out!
Anyways, the food... Probably the best Russian and Ukrainian food I've had in the States. The pelmeni was superb, the ground chicken cutlet and mashed potatoes were delicious and filling, and for dessert? A couple of shots of Russian Standard and a Ukrainian beer.
I also enjoyed the atmosphere. Customers came in, ordered their meals in Russian or Ukrainian, and went about their afternoon. Everyone from mom's with their little kids in tow to babushkas gossiping and enjoying lunch.
This was a meal fit for a Lord of War, no doubt.
