This is the kind of experience I am always hunting for. A limited menu for a handful of perfectly curated and produced items that made for the kind of dining experience that is so rare, especially for breakfast. The fish, egg, pickled vegetables, and rice were all perfect. The environment was serene and respectful. If I lived in Brooklyn I would find a way to enjoy a quiet breakfast here every week.

Apparently the food is good, but this place is tiny. I didn't actually eat here because despite their open tables two unfriendly white people told me that they were fully booked with a waitlist online. By my estimates this place can seat 8 people. Perhaps this is obvious, but make sure you make a reservation!

Tucked away in a cozy little space, this Japanese eatery feels like a hidden gem. Every dish is crafted with such care — not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes, each plate like a small work of art. The warm smiles and thoughtful service make the experience even more memorable. A place that lingers in the heart — I’ll surely find my way back again.

I ate at Okonomi four times in a week, and I keep going back. The food is that good.

If you’re feeling adventurous, sit at the counter, order a healthy amount of sake, and ask for the “double protein”

The staff are all friendly, they’re very open minded, talk to them, you’ll have a great time.

What a unique Japanese experience in Brooklyn ! The preset breakfast tasted like we were in Japan again! Would 100% go back.

This was my third time here, and everything was still amazing. I was also told if I would like to get all of their amazing flavors and stay gluten-free, to call them at least a day in advance, and they would prepare all of my meal ahead of time 100% gluten-free with all of the normal seasonings.

I love these little gems, and this is one of my most favorite of all!

Cute and tiny spot in East Williamsburg for Japanese breakfast! Everything tasted delicious!

I can confidently say this is one of, if not the, best meals I’ve ever had. I got the large portion, and every single item served to me was stellar. It wasn’t too hard to come by a weekday reservation, so I recommend that if you’re able as I hear weekends can be tough. I regret not coming sooner, and can’t wait to come back to see how the menu changes with the seasons!

I stopped by this place because I wanted to start my morning with a Japanese home-cooked meal during my trip. All of the food was beautiful and seemed to have been prepared with thought and care. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed my experience at Okonomi. Firstly, the space is small and intimate - two tables and bar seating. Staff of two people making and serving the food.

We thought it was a ramen restaurant, however we were served dinner sets. The sets were fantastic: a fresh piece of fish, pickled radish, a sort of tamago, roasted squash, and miso soup.

Everything was fresh, delicious, and served with purpose. I appreciated the artful presentation and even though the meal felt like high dining, the ambience of the restaurant made it feel like a calm, relaxing meal.

Highly recommend this restaurant

We went for the set breakfast and it lived up to expectations, with a delicious and healthy assortment of mostly vegetable dishes, fish, soup, rice. Each item had its own unique and subtle flavor and exacting presentation. We'll definitely be back.
