Such an intentional place! From the food to the space with the garden to the service.. everything was delicious. Highly recommend!
The food was amazing ! Every single dish is great, and I got 8 different dishes lol
Olmsted is the most consistently disappointing restaurant I go to. Everything is just not quite as good as it seems like it should be. I know a number of folks think of this place as an haute cuisine neighborhood gem, but I always think of it as that place where dishes fail to deliver on their ideas.
Revising this since I just went back and it was even worse than I'd remembered. It's very unfortunate.
To my restaurant experience Olmsted has the most creative use of ordinary ingredients to totally unexpected tase and looking dishes. One example is shaved zucchini to a delicious pasta (-looking) dish. Another uniqueness in every dish was the sauce. I imagined that probably the chef tested with hundreds or more different ingredients to create a perfect sauce for each dish.
The garden is beautiful and the restaurant is worth a visit just for that. However the food also did not disappoint. Each dish was unique and fresh, and service was impeccable. This was my second time here and I’ll definitely be returning
So yummy! We came when they offered the 9th anniversary menu and the vegetarian options were delicious. Definitely recommend the tagliatelle and the tomato schnitzel! My cocktail was also very good. Every time I come here I love the unique menu and the quality is always superb :)
A Fourth of July Love Letter Turned Ghosting Story
I’d love to tell you about the incredible dinner we had at Olmsted… but instead, I’m here to talk about the one we didn’t — despite having a confirmed reservation.
We showed up after the Yankees/Mets game for our reservation for my Mom's 74th birthday dinner, only to find Olmsted... closed. Lights off. Doors shut. Chairs upside down on tables. No sign, no email, no smoke signal. Google Maps still showed it open (another confused customer tried to walk in while my family was getting our bearings). My Resy reservation had been confirmed for weeks over email using a credit card, and confirmed via text the day before. What's even more irritating is that I now need to call them (except... there is no number on the website) to ensure they don't charge me the $25/head “no-show” fee.
I more than understand that life happens. Emergencies, fireworks, power outages — we're all doing our best. But the lack of communication? Extremely frustrating. A simple heads-up would’ve saved us 2 hours of stress.
Perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or special event!
The food creativity here is brilliant - every dish was a delicious surprise that showcased real culinary artistry. They were incredibly accommodating with food allergies, working enthusiastically with the kitchen to modify dishes without any compromise in quality.
Service was fantastic and genuinely personable (shout out to Alex) Our server was knowledgeable and passionate about the food, making perfect recommendations.
The chicken dish, carrot crepe, and scallops were all beyond phenomenal - each one perfectly executed and unforgettable. The chicken 3 ways is still on my mind!
Olmsted combines technical excellence with warm hospitality. This is destination dining at its finest and I can’t wait to return!
Olmsted is an absolute gem when it comes to cocktails. Every drink here feels like an experience, blending unique flavors and perfectly balanced ingredients. The person behind the bar is a true artist every creation they serve is thoughtful, flavorful, and visually stunning. They have a knack for understanding what you like and surprising you with something even better than expected. The attention to detail is impressive, from the presentation to the nuanced flavors that unfold with each sip. If you’re looking for an unforgettable drink experience, Olmsted is the place to go

Lovely ambiance, great service, pretty plates. Interesting in season menu items. But gotta say despite looking great the food was bland and unexciting. The prices are outrageous with the cheapest bottle of wine I’d consider buying $75. An under-filled glass of red wine for $22. They were charging $17 for an old overholt(a bottle costs $25). I think with a little more attention payed back to the flavors of their dishes and a return to sanity on the wine/alcohol list I’d recommend. But for the money there are way better options nearby.

Nothing was good. Too salty, portions too big, bad plating, just bad, bad food.

Much like you may be debating doing, I went to Olmsted for a nice dinner with my parents who were in from out of town. Let me save you the time and trouble, and advise that you choose any other restaurant.
After being seated at our table we waited over 20 minutes for any of the MANY wait staff to acknowledge our table or even provide water. We took the matter into our own hands and flagged down the HOSTESS (the only one doing her job), who then took our drink order herself. Still unable to find or meet a waiter to serve our table, the hostess (~10min later) then also brought our ($20) drinks from the bar to the table (not her job but appreciate her doing so).
45min after being seated and wondering why we came to this expensive restaurant where no one serves you...we met our waiter. Although this could have been a redeeming moment, it was not. No acknowledgement of the long wait, no asking if we had questions, and not a dish or recommendation to be heard. Regardless, we placed our orders.
The meal came, we ate the food, and made the best of the lackluster situation...but it was 2 hours and $400 I will never EVER get back.
I further my statement that Greg Baxtrom cannot provide a positive dining experience at any of his many Brooklyn establishments and suggest saving your time and money before ever attending any of them (particularly either of the Vanderbilt ones).
Thank you for reading. Xx

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood but feel it has declined substantially over the last few years.
Went this past weekend and both food and service were inconsistent. The burger in particular was disappointing (overcooked and slightly cold). Cocktails were good but took a while and the wine list was much less diverse/expansive than in the past. All-in the quality didn’t feel worth the price, especially compared to what you could elsewhere at a similar price point.
Excellent meal and service. We walked in without a reservation- grabbed a late seating to celebrate multiple birthdays. This is to say we arrived toward the end of the night, chatty and had lots of questions. Our waiter, Alex D, was patient, gracious and had all the answers.
