Olmsted is an absolute gem when it comes to cocktails. Every drink here feels like an experience, blending unique flavors and perfectly balanced ingredients. The person behind the bar is a true artist every creation they serve is thoughtful, flavorful, and visually stunning. They have a knack for understanding what you like and surprising you with something even better than expected. The attention to detail is impressive, from the presentation to the nuanced flavors that unfold with each sip. If you’re looking for an unforgettable drink experience, Olmsted is the place to go
Lovely ambiance, great service, pretty plates. Interesting in season menu items. But gotta say despite looking great the food was bland and unexciting. The prices are outrageous with the cheapest bottle of wine I’d consider buying $75. An under-filled glass of red wine for $22. They were charging $17 for an old overholt(a bottle costs $25). I think with a little more attention payed back to the flavors of their dishes and a return to sanity on the wine/alcohol list I’d recommend. But for the money there are way better options nearby.

Nothing was good. Too salty, portions too big, bad plating, just bad, bad food.

Much like you may be debating doing, I went to Olmsted for a nice dinner with my parents who were in from out of town. Let me save you the time and trouble, and advise that you choose any other restaurant.
After being seated at our table we waited over 20 minutes for any of the MANY wait staff to acknowledge our table or even provide water. We took the matter into our own hands and flagged down the HOSTESS (the only one doing her job), who then took our drink order herself. Still unable to find or meet a waiter to serve our table, the hostess (~10min later) then also brought our ($20) drinks from the bar to the table (not her job but appreciate her doing so).
45min after being seated and wondering why we came to this expensive restaurant where no one serves you...we met our waiter. Although this could have been a redeeming moment, it was not. No acknowledgement of the long wait, no asking if we had questions, and not a dish or recommendation to be heard. Regardless, we placed our orders.
The meal came, we ate the food, and made the best of the lackluster situation...but it was 2 hours and $400 I will never EVER get back.
I further my statement that Greg Baxtrom cannot provide a positive dining experience at any of his many Brooklyn establishments and suggest saving your time and money before ever attending any of them (particularly either of the Vanderbilt ones).
Thank you for reading. Xx

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood but feel it has declined substantially over the last few years.
Went this past weekend and both food and service were inconsistent. The burger in particular was disappointing (overcooked and slightly cold). Cocktails were good but took a while and the wine list was much less diverse/expansive than in the past. All-in the quality didn’t feel worth the price, especially compared to what you could elsewhere at a similar price point.
Excellent meal and service. We walked in without a reservation- grabbed a late seating to celebrate multiple birthdays. This is to say we arrived toward the end of the night, chatty and had lots of questions. Our waiter, Alex D, was patient, gracious and had all the answers.

The clam crepe and the scallops were very good. The Heirloom Tomato Schnitzel was the dumbest dish I've had this year - very bad (this was the only vegetarian entree).

Sweet dear god WHAT???? That was hilariously bad. I don’t know what has happened, but whatever you heard about this place is gone. You would have a better meal & experience going to Applebee’s. Do yourself a favor…

Not what it was and no one really seemed to care.
Food had some good surprises and complex flavors. Others were too salty.
Service was sparse. Our server was nice but was spread very thin and everyone seemed to treat us like we were imposing on them…
Atmosphere was awful. The space is beautiful and the lighting is great, but the place was blaring 2000s and 2010s pop at an Applebees level. I love this music…but this was not the vibe for it…
They’ve lost their direction and way a lot, and I hope they find it. Because there was some good stuff here before.

Beautiful restaurant with friendly staff, but the food is not it.
Anytime a restaurant has a menu that incorporates cuisines from many different parts of the world, you’re bound to get a unique meal. In the appetizer section, you had options of a Thai som tum salad, potato gnocchi, and watermelon sushi.
I understand creativity in the kitchen, but a more cohesive menu is probably the better move?
We ordered the falafel - very tasty and served with this spicy whipped ricotta. We ordered the som tum squash salad - nothing crazy, tasted like any papaya salad you’d get at a Thai restaurant. The potato gnocchi - basically gnocchi swimming in a cheese soup (no hyperbole). And we shared the chicken - not good. Chicken was lacking flavor, served with undercooked rice and this star anise oil.
The also forgot one of our drinks, which ended up being comped. When we told them about the chicken and rice, they were willing to give us another entree on the house.
Overall, I’d come back here for better weather for drinks and snacks in the backyard. I appreciate the idea, but feel that the execution is lacking.

Disappointing at best. Food combinations were non-complimentary. Scallops seemed bbq'd - as in charcoal covered, not seared. Rangoon flavor was dominated by filler rather that crab. Mediocre food not worth the effort in a sea of good restaurants. Not sure what happened compared to other ratings.

My party of four ordered eight dishes plus two desserts in all. There was nothing that I particularly liked, and my party also wasn't blown away.
When my party was given cutlery, one person ended up with broken chopsticks. That foreshadowed the experience to come.
Vegetarian options: The entire menu apart from three main courses is vegetarian / vegan.

Dinner is always interesting and fun here. Clearly each dish takes a lot of thought, and even when it's an unusual flavor experience, it's usually a stunner. For example, the steak tartar from a couple seasons ago appeared weirdly presented, with bits of steak placed within a bibb lettuce "salad", but it was delicious. Scallops were served on skewers separately from the main plate. Why? No one knows. There were no greens to wilt. Who's to say? But it did add a little do-it-yourself to the dish, so, novelty points.
Watermelon sushi was super fresh and crisp, and had layers of surprising flavor.
One misstep that struck me and my dining partner as funny is their committed love of calabrian whipped honey. It's their only fumble and we thought ' oh they can't possibly repeat this, it'll be gone next menu change". Nope. When we came back it turned out they'd kept it, added lavender, and also added it to another dish. It sounds wonderful but the end result is a gross, sickly sweet foam that overwhelms. There's 14 cubic lbs of honey on the froyo. Wish they added way more froyo and one dollop of honey.
Avoid the honey, enjoy every single other thing, overall it's great, and the seasonal menu changes do not disappoint. Looking forward to the return of the tartare, and the pressed chicken was perfect.

Great food, however the portions are small. We were a party of four and should’ve ordered two of most dishes in order to share.
