My husband and I are always greeted warmly and the food delicious and in large portions.
A hidden gem. amazing food and amazing service. Their penne ala vodka with chicken parm is the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend you try this authentic family owned restaurant

We have been coming here for over 25 years and it never misses. Orthobello is the absolute Holy Grail of Italian food. The family-style atmosphere makes you feel right at home, and the quality is truly top-tier. After two and a half decades, it’s still our favorite spot!

My Nonna lived up the block for 50+ years- moved out of Brooklyn but I still yearn for this restaurant and try to make an effort to go whenever I do come back. Menu is fresh and delicious, I love the laid back ambiance and nothing beats the kind and attentive service. Ortobellos has my heart forever!

I came to the place because I was looking for authentic Italian food. I also read the great reviews on google so it made me try it.
I always swear I won't go by the reviews but I still do. So here goes. The appetizer I ordered I believe it's called the Capresse salad which is Mozzarella and tomato with basil. I thought that, that dish was excellent. For the main course we ordered the chicken franchisee and the veal franchisee. The food came out in good time and it was fresh and made to order but it tasted like I was eating only lemon. As if the cook poured lemon juice with butter on it. So it was a turn off. The portions big and they accept cash only, which is ok but not ideal. In my opinion those dishes are the most difficult dishes to make correctly. I was in the mood for that. So, Maybe if I had ordered Chicken Parm I would not have been disappointed. So for this reason I give the total experience 3 out 5 stars.

We changed the reservation time maybe that’s why we had to wait. Other than that the food was amazing! Everything seemed fresh and delicious. Loved the homemade balsamic glaze! The eggplant Parmesan was melting in my mouth lol. The shrimp was bomb, fried calamari was definitely a hit. Everything was very good. Hands down this place is one of the best authentic Italian places. Definitely must go places! Loved the Italian old school vibes.

What a phenomenal experience! We went based on recommendations from TikTok. Small restaurant with a few tables, its cash only!! We did not think we would get seated, but Andy, I believe is the owner, he assured us that he would get us a table and told us to please wait and within 20 minutes we were seated!!! I’m so happy we stayed because the chicken Parm is the best I’ve ever had. You could cut it with a knife!! Its family style! Prices are reasonable.. go hungry.

I’ve been here several times. It was always edition experience. This September I went there with my girl she lives in the neighborhood and experience totally sucked.. they told us to come at 7:10 we didn’t get into the restaurant because there’s no place to wait and there’s no boy here so we sat outside on a park bench till 8:45 PM. Were they finally seated us at a table that was probably not even big enough for an adolescent. We had to request a bigger table after being ignored we finally put our order in. We didn’t get any bread on the table until we were halfway. through our first course even the glass of wine I got one in a pony glass as opposed to other people that were getting full size glasses of wine I felt like a second right citizen. My date decided to order the steak we told them medium done Tara K well done and they made apologies for it when we complained they said oh well, give his dessert. They gave us one piece of cheesecake to split between the two of us even my chicken palm. The cutlet is self was very greasy.. We felt like we were treated like second-class citizens Well, the owner, who supposed to be a host was dressed, like a slob, going from table to table, kibitzing with everybody, but us. I should’ve stayed home and cooked or went elsewhere. If not, for the fact, she lives in the neighborhood and parking is terrible here and I drove all the way from Queens, I would’ve said screw it and drove elsewhere, but I purposely came early so I can find a parking spot near our apartment building and come here for my birthday. Well I tell you never again never again I felt like everybody was rude to us. I felt like the food that we got that night was totally substandard and a total disappointment. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in my life I’ve never never never been Treated like this. Obviously, these people are clueless.

I’ve passed here often but never had a chance to visit. Yesterday I decided to give it a shot. The restaurant isn’t much to look at from the outside but that doesn’t mean much. The food was amazing. I went with the baked clams for my appetizer. Which were very good. For my main I couldn’t decide between the tortellini bolognese or the penne vodka with shrimp. So I asked my waiter’s opinion & he suggested combining the two. So I took his advice & had tortellini vodka with shrimp. It was extremely delicious, the vodka sauce was especially creamy & both the shrimp & pasta were fresh. It was an extremely filling meal as well. On a side note you may want to avoid eating the pre meal bread with butter & save the bread for the excess sauce from your main. I usually prefer NY style cheesecakes but since they were serving a HOMEMADE ricotta cheesecake I had to take a slice to go. I couldn’t eat another bite after that amazing dinner. The restaurant is on the small side & can probably seat around 40 people. It has an old school vibe to it & the food is amazing. I had half of the slice of cheesecake for breakfast this morning. It was surprisingly delicious & moist (I often find Italian cheesecake to be dry). I would definitely recommend stopping here for dinner.
