Hit or miss
The cashier working this Thursday night skipped me in line and served two people behind me. Very unprofessional. Pizza was good, but I won’t be coming back.
Edit: I can’t reply on google reviews, but to answer your question the girl motioned for the men behind me and asked them what they would like to order even though i was standing right in front of her. Even one of the guys that was served turned around and apologized to me for being served first. The cashier did not.

Slices were clearly not fresh both times I visited this establishment. The massive amount of 5 star reviews is strange to me, as almost every no-name pizzeria in the greater NYC area is better than this one.

I used to go to Paulie Gee's slice shoppe when I lived in Greenpoint. I moved two years ago. Over the last six months I have been to the slice shop three times, and eveytime has been worse than the last... its not horrible, but its nowhere never what it used to be. The first time back, I thought I caught them on a bad day. The second time, I was excited to put the previous and only bad experience behind me, but no... it was somehow worse. And the third, and sadly the last time, even worse. Let me preface this, it was a Sunday at 7:00pm (I'm not sure if that's an excuse) anyway, I walked in and look into the pizza window, every pie looks old as that, the cheese look like it had been reheated several times and left in the fridge. But still, I ordered 4 slices. I was driving back upstate about an hour, so I started to eat the first slice right away, less then 3 minutes from receiving it. The first slice was barely room temperature, so I moved on to the second same thing, then the third. I was hungry so I can see, the lukewarm-at-best, hellboy slice. It was bland, the pepperoni was clearly different than it was 2 plus years ago, the cheese what they thick mat, that I left a clear bite mark in. No, gooey stringy Pizza goodness. Somehow, when I got home and reheated all of the slices, the cheese never returned to anything that would resemble a pizza. I'm not sure what happened over the last year or two, but Paulie Gee's has definitely changed its Cheese, and everything else for the worst.
Edit: Thank you for the sincere reply.

Overrated. It’s a basic pizza shop. Nothing exciting about it. People will make you believe that this is something magical BUT…I’ve had better. The pizza was decent.

My girlfriend put me on to Paulie Gees and I will spend the rest of my life making it up to her! The hellboy pizza is perfectly sweet and sticky and spicy, and the warm atmosphere and lighting are relaxing. The front is a small pizza joint, with more seating and a bar in the rear. Nothing beats the slices here :)

Pizza quality has gone down hill over the years. You can tell they put minimal effort into the pies. Slices are warped, dry, burnt and just bland overall. Consistency is gone.
It takes forever to place an order. There is zero hustle from the cashiers and they seem so dopey and lost at times. They have very little situational awareness when the line starts to build to speed things up and avoid the unnecessary banter with customers. I partly blame the insanely loud music which makes it hard for them to hear your order. Seriously lower the volume a little.
You can tell that the locals have lost taste for the pizza here. The place used to be bumping on weekday evenings, now not so much. I guess the hype is long gone, it sucks because it used to be a decent place …especially with all the good places in the neighborhood having closed down.

I love the TV’s with the games on. They do have a bar. They have vegan slices and pies. Good ones.

I ordered the Hells Boy pizza a couple of days ago and it was amazing — one of the best I’ve had! I was craving it again today, but unfortunately this time it tasted completely different. The crust, sauce, and cheese all had a totally different flavor and texture. It almost seemed like the dough was made the day before and just reheated or topped later.
Please go back to your original recipe! The first one was perfect. Consistency is key — don’t lose customers over changes that take away what made it so good in the first place.
