Racist bar! I’ve been in the area for some years and shared a few good experiences at this bar. The other day while hanging with friends, it was brought up that this space is not a fan of people of color and tonight I had my own experience. The bar girl was super disrespectful! She never greeted my friend or I but decided to tell us that “we needed to move over because her friend had a seat at the bar”… she never greeted us and it was a disgusting feeling.. if I had the time, I would have told her a word or two! I will never ever go back and btw, Filthy Diamond, which is a bar down the street is so much better!!!!

This place slaps any day, every day. Food? solid. Drinks? solid. Vibe? solid. Seating? almost always. Board games, projector screen, back patio, and the best grilled cheese you've had at a bar, period. Phil's has the juice.

This is my favorite local bar. Great indoor and outdoor spaces, lovely staff, good prices and fabulous hotdogs. Especially love that it’s right next to the laundromat so I can hop back and forth.

I visited San Diego and had a fantastic meal with two friends. We ordered the Full Rib Dinner with Black Bean and Corn Slaw, Chicken Wings, Corn Bread, along with two beers and a cocktail.

I wasn't expecting much from the cocktails since they were reasonably priced, but they turned out to have a nice balance—not too sweet and just the right amount of alcohol. The ribs were incredibly tender and delicious on their own, but dipping them in the accompanying sauce took them to the next level. The Black Bean and Corn Slaw was a standout; I was genuinely surprised by how good it was—definitely a must-try side!

Even weeks later, I still can’t forget that flavor. The Chicken Wings were a bit spicy for my taste, but they were still tasty. The Corn Bread had actual corn kernels in it, which made it even better, and they were generous with the butter.

The portions were quite large, and we ended up taking some home, but I wish I could have finished it all! It was a great way to kick off my trip with such delicious food.

This place has waylaid my plans to ‘make dinner at home’ so many times they should have a frequent diner program ?
Get a dog
Get a grilled cheese
Come for the specials that ?never?miss or the pop up ramen Friday nights
There’s gonna be something on the menu that’s gonna make you happy ?

Great staff here! They source quality ingredients- great cheeses on the charcuterie and for grilled cheeses. The Wednesday dinner specials are divine.

The bartender, Liberty was so lovely and the food was delicious. I ordered the fig and gruyere grilled cheese with Tomato soup and was not disappointed! The Lavender Gin Lemonade was fantastic and the PB&J shots are perfect. Will definitely come back!
