Met the lovely clerk at the Morningside Heights farmer's market. I bought the last Kouign-amann, and the gentleman asked me to give him feedback. It was really delicious. Very crispy, and faint notes of burned sugar balanced with the crispy sweetness.
I order a galette des rois every year for my wife’s birthday, which falls on Three Kings Day. It never disappoints, and I mean never. This year we decided to be extra generous and share with friends. Everyone raved! Yvan is always responsive and the business is professional and attentive to their customers. Five Stars for Pistache!
Their Galette des Rois (Kings Cake) is absolutely outstanding. I order mine from a different NYC bakery every year and this one tops the list so far. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the puff pastry (it stayed perfectly crispy for two days!) and I really enjoyed having crunchy pieces of nuts in the frangipane, which is a nice twist on the classic recipe.
