I dined at Puertas last night and had a lovely time. It is one of the few upscale Latin fusion restaurants in Bay Ridge, and it absolutely deserves our support.
The restaurant, including the bathroom, was clean and sanitary, and I personally observed the staff busily cleaning and clearing tables and common areas. No one lazed about; everyone kept busy.
I was eager to try the Empanadas de Carne, as they were a twist on your ordinary empanada. The saffron was palatable, and the aji spices raised the bar on the standard “meat pie” you’d experience at other restaurants. The aji gave them a semi-sweet, but savory, flavor.
The drinks were spectacular. They were well-measured, bold, and flavorful. The drink featured in the photo below was their DeLeon Smash, which is a creative variation on a whiskey smash and a Mojito. The fresh mint combined with the Grand Marnier is something I urge you to try.
Honestly, my only complaint is the owners haven’t figured out how to make this place a Latin music scene. There was plenty of space to pull out booths, adjust table sizes, and create a stage where Bay Ridge could have a hub of the Latin music scene. The ambiance is a perfect fit, and they can do so much more than serve just great food and drinks.
Go visit them.

Ate here tonight and not only was my salmon undercooked but a roach crawled out onto the seat near my jacket which completely ruined the experience further. We were going to order dessert but that completely put a nail in the coffin for me.
Have eaten here before and loved the food. I bought a gift card for some family members as a Christmas present this week. Well, they let me know today that in a storm, they went above and beyond to not only cook a specialty item but to also deliver it. You have customers for life! And let that be a lesson to others that acts of kindness go a long way!
Puertas has gone downhill. When they first open, they were great but not now. First of, we were the only people in the restaurant and the food took a while to come out. The calamari was not fresh. The burger was soo dry and so was the chicken sandwich. We left hungry. Horrible experience.

10 out of 10 highly recommend!!
The Food was Delicious very authentic!
Drinks were very good strong in a good way! Lol service was fast and friendly.
Beautiful atmosphere really captures the feel of puerto Rico.
I ordered the skirt steak with the mashed potatoes and chimichurri sauce on top
My partner ordered fried pork chop with arroz con gandules. Both very flavorful!
Classic Nuyorican vibes and delectable cuisine that invigorates your taste buds. The staff was exceptionally responsive (refilling water, tending a spilled beverage, bringing dessert menus, etc.), even with the gigantic graduation party at the middle table. Traditional Puerto Rican fare and music. Gotta go again to sample more of the menu.
We loved fried calamari, so we had to order it twice. Passion fruit mojito was absolutely delicious. Didn't like the guacamole at all, it had this aftertaste like from the store. I am not sure if it was fresh. We felt like shrimp ceviche was not worth it, serving very little plus lots of avocado and tomato, really little shrimp. Love Ropa Vieja ,but was little salty. The pork was great. Service was good, no complaints here. Not sure if we come back, but this is my honest review.

Poor service. The waiter kept forgetting the food and drinks we ordered. Not attentive at all. The food was meh. My meal was salty, my daughter's salmon was dry. The tostones were tough with very little flavor. We left disappointed and felt it was a waste of money. There are much better options in Bay Ridge.
Good vibes. Great food.
Food and drinks were on point, but the music was a bit loud, and it was a bit hard to talk lol
I came with a party of 2 for my friends birthday. It wasn't busy inside and we were seated right away. The place inside looks awesome. The art is cool the atmosphere is nice. The menu is very selective. I tried ordering a dish of the menu that had steak as the meat and I wanted to switch it to chicken because I don't eat steak. All I got was: The chef said No. I resulted in the shrimp, which I would not recommend. My friend enjoyed his steak dish. And the birthday song part was fun. Flan was more like a custard, but very enjoyable. I probably wouldn't go back. Thank you to the staff and I hope the chef gets nicer.

The restaurant is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. The restaurant prepares Spanish/Latin cuisine. I ordered the grilled salmon with sweet potatoes, corn, avocado mousse and pickled red cabbage. The chicken fajitas included red and green peppers, poblano mole, white rice, pico de gallo, frijoles, guacamole and two flour tortillas. The fish empanada was good and shaped like a fish. The restaurant is decorated for the Halloween holiday. Friendly and helpful staff.
