This place is definitely a vibe, the nice dark atmosphere makes it feel cozy and romantic. The dinner was amazing and I love it. The monfongo de chicharrones was delicious, especially the marinated sauce for the monfongo was perfect to taste. Not too salty or bitter. Puerto Viejo is outstanding! Neighborhood stalwart for over 30 year, family owned and the pride shows in the dinner we had! We came in to a full house and were seated just in a few minutes. The food was excellent and the space is dark and cozy! We had a great time and will definitely be back.

The food here was absolutely terrific! Everything from the empanada to the entrée and dessert was spot on. I had the churrasco (skirt steak) and flan de coco—both were outstanding.
