I love Putnam’s but the food has really changed. As time goes by, there is less and less that is done well. Today’s Mac and Cheese inspired today’s review. It used to be so tasty, truffly and gooey, my absolute fave. This is not it. Still, I love this bar so much. Just not the food.

Putnam's is a great neighborhood spot. Really nice cocktail menu and lots of good things to eat.

The Steak Frites is the best and a great deal as well. I tried the low-alcohol Tepache on my last visit - nice. Skinny Fries are another favorite.

Really disappointed in Putnam’s, a neighborhood bar I’ve been eating and drinking at for years. The other day I ordered a cocktail with egg white in it on a whim. It smelled like straight up rotten eggs, even my partner sitting across from me asked what the smell was. The kicker is that when the manager (?) asked me how it was (he had been boasting about the cocktail menu beforehand) I told him it smelled off. He even smelled it and made a disgusted face, casually said he’d tell the bartender, and then didn’t even take the 14 dollar drink off our final bill which included a bunch of food and other drinks. That is shocking to me after working in the service industry for years. I will not return here.

Drinks great! Happy hour till 7pm.
Food great! We got the cheeseburger spring rolls.
Service great! We sat at the bar and Diana was the bartender. I’d put 6 stars for the service if it was an option :)

Kid-friendliness: Service is phenomenal (coming from a first time customer and bar owner)

I never write google reviews, but my experience here was bad enough I feel compelled to write one.

I dined here and sat at the bar. I was excited to try the food and drinks as I had heard good things.

The female bartender who serving me had a terrible attitude and made me and my friend feel uncomfortable. I will not mention her by name, which i was able to figure out- but she has curly brown hair and was short/squat in stature.

She basically threw the drinks we ordered at us (which are not cheap) same with menus. She rolled her eyes as we ordered and never checked in on us. Asking for some extra napkins seemed like a huge chore for her. She was talking about us to her coworker and in general just had a miserable attitude.

I could understand a short demeanor if the bar was busy or if we were needy, but there were only a few people in the place- I can now see why.

I understand people have bad days and serving industry can be difficult, I worked as an NYC bartender for over 30 years and am still at it! I just don’t like being belittled and demeaned by staff so unnecessarily when I am an easy and paying customer!

Needless to say I will not be dining here again.

Seems like it wants to be a neighborhood bar but plays out of state college football games over Mets playoff games. Want to like this place but it continues to disappoint at all opportunities. Service is hit or miss, food the same. Please be better.

Putnam is one of my favorite pubs in the area. They really got it all. Never had been disappointed with anything I got. Great food, amazing service, and a very cool vibe all round. I recommend the spinach dip and the calamari for starters for sure. The Steak Frites is a favorite of mine! I was a bit disappointed with the wings but overall, a 10/10 place to eat!

Upon arrival my family and I were greeted by the host who was very welcoming. we proceeded to our table which was a booth and perfect for the family. Our order went as follows. Bottomless Bellini's to start which happen to be well balanced. Salt and Pepper Shrimp, mac and cheese, Side of Grits, For the brunch Entree's we ordered French Toast, Eggs Norwegian, Kids Waffle Sundae. the Pepper Shrimp was more of a shrimp tempura which you typically get for sushi non the less it was still tasty. The mac and cheese had good flavor. The French Toast was pretty good I really enjoyed the strawberry mascarpone instead of typical whipped cream great touch. Eggs were cooked to perfection on the Eggs Norwegian. Kids Waffle was enjoyed. Thank You to the staff for great hospitality.

Lovely neighborhood spot! Happy hour is great with some delicious food options available. Service is sometimes slow so be prepared to spend some time here. Family friendly and overall a wonderful experience.
