Amazing authentic & home cooked food!!!

The service was great. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. You have to order at the register and pick up your food there, when it's ready. Then sit down at one of the many tables to eat. I also went to the rest room and it was clean. I was the only black person, but treated the same as anyone else. I ordered the polish platter (mashed potatoes, sausage, 4 chicken stuffed dumplings, stuffed cabbage with rice and ground meat with sauce on top, 2 potato latkes and the cabbage with meat). I had to ask for the sour cream for the latkes. The food was good, but I've had better. The stuffed cabbage wasn't nearly as good as the one that I purchased at a Polish restaurant in Manhattan. I ordered the blintzes. I ordered strawberry on the cashiers recommendation and I also ordered the cheese one. They come with apple sauce and sour cream. I meant to take a picture but forgot. The cheese flavor was good the strawberry one is really good. The price is decent at $24 for the platter (at the time of writing this). The blintzes is $12. You get to pick 2 out of 3 flavors (strawberry, blueberry or cheese). They do not mix the flavors together in one blintz. I also like the way they wrap it. They enclosed the crepe among itself on all sides (hiding the filling), unlike most places which leave the crepe open.

This restaurant has figured out the formula that eludes others. The workers showed authentic kindness throughout our meal. Their cooking brings good flavors. The dishes here taste fantastic. Could make this my weekly food ritual!

Truly Polish dining experience in New York. The portions are massive, and the food is really good. The pierogi aren’t the best, but everything else makes up for it. I regularly visit this place whenever I’m in NYC.

Edit: What truly shocked me, though, was the behavior of the owner/manager (or whoever was in charge). This didn’t happen on my first visit, but on a later one. The lovely woman at the till briefly left her station to help open the door for a family with a stroller — a noble and kind gesture. Instead of appreciating it, he started shouting and swearing at her in front of everyone, yelling “it’s not your responsibility.”

His behavior was disgraceful. He came across as an uncivilized, vulgar bully with zero manners, shouting at someone far more noble and professional than he could ever be. She showed class, warmth, and dedication, while he exposed himself as a crude, arrogant man who doesn’t deserve to represent a place with such good food.

A true bar mleczny in a neighborhood that once had more of them, Pyza is likely the best and most authentic Polish dining experience you'll have west of Szczeczin (or at least in Brooklyn). Get the eponymous pyza and whatever soups they have that day, then go home and watch (or rewatch) your favorite Juliusz Machulski movie (mine's Seksmisja).

Very well cooked chicken cutlet. Crisp and juicy. Next time I would go without the cheese. There were tons of mushrooms on this. Very good.

The community benefits from this restaurant. The costs align with expectations. The team showed technical skill with a warm approach. You'll find good standards in everything they cook. You should prioritize this place.
