Best ethiopian vegan food in NYC and also one of the best vegan restaurants period. the sambusas are incredible, as are the burritos that are available for weekend brunch. drinks are great as well.

Great Ethiopian spot with both traditional lentil dishes and more creative mushroom and seitan dishes.

ordered: Sambusa with butternut squash filling & Langano Bowl - Fantastic food, no other way to say it. The bowl I had was an explosion of flavour and the starter was great too. Will definitely be back to try more things. The restaurant was a little loud for me but I’m sensitive when it comes to that & it didn’t take away from the amazing food experience!

No, really, the vibes here are actually immaculate. The staff wear shirts that say "purveyor of vibes". On the wall in glowing lights, it says "Issa vibe". They weren't lying about all that. They seem to be a setup for a vinyl DJ too, but there wasn't any live music while I was in I got the piassa platter, and it was fantastic. They should give one more piece of injera with the meal for the right ratio, though. Such great ambiance and the price of everything is good. Staff is friendly. I'm eager to try everything on the menu over time Updated from previous review on 2025-05-31

Really enjoyed our evening here. Staff were very kind. Nice cocktails and good food.

Everything in the restaurant is vegan, makes choosing what to get a lot harder! Got their “chicken” sandwich which used mushrooms as the “patty” - really tasty. Loved the music and the decor, will definitely visit again if I’m in NYC!

MY FAVORITE PLACE IN NEW YORK. Vibe was so welcoming and warm. The servers were so helpful and personable. The food was out of this world. When we left, I immediately asked when we are going back and what excuse do we need to return asap. I’ve been around the world eating vegan and this restaurant is a SHOW STOPPER. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Only place in NYC which I wanted to go to twice. Very flavorful food, and the location in Manhattan was amazing. Highly recommend.

Spotted this place on Happy Cow and wanted to give it a try. When the server told me they had gluten-free injera I was thrilled. I tried the Mercado plate with an extra order of injera. We also had a side of fries and amazing coffee.

Incredible spice, flavors, and decorated in vibrant art is @rasplantbased with locations in Brooklyn and NYC. We checked out the Brooklyn location. We enjoyed everything we tried: -Butternut Sambusa which was so light, flaky on the outside, creamy interior. I wish we got yhe assortment to try them all! -Ras Breakfast with a little bit of everything...  injera firfir, scrambled "eggs", cucumber salad, potato hash, injera rolls -Ras Tibs which were so zesty, spicy, and delicious! I never had Ethiopian food before, a huge fan! I  blown away by the rich depth of flavors and spices. If your sensitive to spice or heat, may not be for you, but I am obsessed!
