These folks work HARD in here, cranking out some good hot meals for the community.
I needed something good and comfortable, not fancy and expensive, but was stuck wandering the snow in Wberg. Quite the challenge! Very glad I found this place.
I got an egg & cheese with some home fries - the lady at the counter asked if I wanted them on the sandwich. She know's what's up!
The GOOD kind of home fries too - orange with seasoning! Tip these workers good!

I didn’t end up eating here because I canceled my order after what I observed inside the restaurant. Unfortunately, the overall environment immediately turned me off.
The space appeared run-down and not very clean, which already raised some concern. While some food prep was visible, not all of it was done in front of customers. I noticed someone cooking eggs off to the side in a separate room using a very small frying pan, which felt unusual and uncomfortable given the tight space.
What ultimately made me cancel my order was watching someone come in from outside, go behind the counter without washing their hands, and immediately start handling food. After seeing that, I no longer felt confident about the hygiene practices being followed.
Given the number of questionable sanitation issues I witnessed firsthand, I chose not to proceed with my order. I was genuinely surprised, based on what I saw, that the restaurant has passed health inspections. Cleanliness and food safety are extremely important, and unfortunately this experience did not inspire trust.

((4.5 stars))
Reuben Luncheonette is very much an old school spot for breakfast and lunch & anything in-between eats-wise. the luncheonette is a medium-sized place with seating at the counter bar--no tables. food is literally cooked in front of you on the grill. very much a slender hole-in-the-wall places of a NYC that is rapidly vanishing. the space shows its age as a spot in its worn-in interior...nothing fancy just a casual gem of a place that has survived the decades of gentrification by serving the neighborhood and its locals. its hours are early morning through the afternoon. stopped here on a super cold day before closing just as it emptied out— the guys, here, were super kind and stayed open so i could sit and eat. very hospitable. ordered their 2 eggs, home fries, and toast special because i didn’t want to hold them up more than i already was. watching your food being made on the grill is a feast for the eyes and nose as your food sizzles on the grill before you get to eat. the eggs were nice and fluffy. the homefries are fantastic—seasoned well, served hot, soft but not mushy with a little crispness from the flattop. and the the toast rounds out the breakfast special. again, the staff are very hospitable and serve up simple comfort food dishes for breakfast and lunch. if you’re in Williamsburg and up for some classic grill items then head to Reben Luncheonette and enjoy! oh and they have a variety of fresh squeeze juices, too!

Veggie omelette was great but toast & home fries were so soggy. The home fries had no peppers or onions wasn’t crispy at ALL like literally it was mushed orange potatoes.one half of my toast was slightly toasted the other was cold bread. Burger was okay but the cheese wasn’t melted fries tasted old. Iced coffee was watery. Try at your own risk.
You don’t go to a place like this for great cuisine, you go for the pleasant people and the great price

Use to be don’t waste your money or time really sad ! Bad Mangement and lower grade quality of food contributed to its down fall .

For being an inexpensive diner, this place is top notch. A delicious cheese steak sandwich with a mango Smoothie hit the spot. Avoid the nearby fast food chains and eat here. Competitive price and better food.
