Prejudice, visit with a group of YT people or don’t visit at all if you’re of a color. Was there at 5:00 pm sharp with a group of 6 ( including a baby ) put my name on the list I asked at 5:00 sharp can I be seated inside, was there a wait. I was hosted by NIA she said there was no wait and they were getting the table ready. Waited 15 minutes as I watched her sit everyone without a reservations and also tell me they were getting my table ready. I looked into the restaurant and absolutely nobody was getting a table ready. At 5:15 when the other woman decided to seat my family and myself outside I told her I was not interested I have a baby. She said oh it’s a heater, I didn’t know you wanted to sit inside it’s full. From the look of things they must not be used to African American families, again she sat multiple parties wo reservations inside who was the opposite color. Tried taking my mom here for her birthday, but I see what’s going on. Thanks for making me and my family stand outside for 15 minutes in the cold w my son while u smiled at everyone else to only turn us away. Blessings, one day I’m sure you will experience that same in return when you do. Remember today

No tables... despite a bunch of tables and bar spots. Close at 245pm to shuffle people out, but overhear people ordering at 345pm. What is it, make up your mind. My guess is another gentrified spot hyped up by an Instagram influencer.
Make a booking in advance— it gets packed!!! My friend and I got lucky and got sat at the bar due to someone else’s last minute cancellation.
The staff are wonderful and all of the entrees looked amazing. The french onion soup seemed very popular, as did the burgers. My friend tried the steak and I the pasta— both DELICIOUS! Pasta was perfectly al dente ?
Seating is a bit tight but the vibes are great. Would love to come back!

Amazing burger! Definitely worth a try if you're NYC.
Couple tips for out of towners. I went on a Wednesday night. The Tavern is small and the entire place is reservation only i.e. I couldn't even wait for a bar seat. Luckily the hostess and chef agreed I could get a burger to go.

Pretty good food and a very local feel, although slightly expensive. It gets very busy and it's difficult to make a reservation. There's generally a line as soon as they open

If you're going for the famous burger, you'll almost definitely think it's worth the trip/cost/wait. If not, or if you're a vegetarian (or even a pescatarian), chances are you'll be underwhelmed.
I got the fish and chips. They absolutely nailed the fish part. But the chips were surprisingly "meh".
Cool place overall. Was fun to check it out with some friends on a Friday afternoon.
Mamma mia. Chef’s kiss. The burger is one of the best in the world.

Really good experience. Friendly service. Came for the burger, and it’s definitely an excellent burger. Fun old school atmosphere. Simple. Exciting was good but only the burger was special, food wise.
