Came here on a date. Unreal food. Unreal service
Below than average quality and does not deserve a Michelin star. A lot of the courses taste quite bland and the service is also no good.
The pace of the menu is too fast. They had two seatings every night at 6pm and 8:30pm, which is absolutely not long enough to serve a 13-course menu. We were guided to a lounge area at 8pm and the staff was cleaning the table just a few steps away, which shouldn’t happen for a restaurant charging such a price.
The menu is served too fast, and consecutive courses often have entirely different or opposite flavors. Often time the taste from the previous course was still strong in my mouth while I’m obligated to finish the next one.
The signature duck pie is very average / below average. I can’t imagine that they are selling the black truffle supplement with the course, since the sauces are so strong that cover the taste of all other ingredients. This is absolutely not a course that you can serve with truffle.
At the end when we leave, there is no server guiding us out. First time I’ve seen this for a Michelin star restaurant.

We had dessert tasting menu. The dessert was okay, nothing special. You can get better soufflé at other places, or you can maker better soufflé than what was offered at the restaurant.
The service was extremely bad. They don’t seem happy at work. The chefs treated Japanese clients differently. No one cared to introduce the food to us.
I was a customer since the restaurant has opened and witnessed the service has got worse. I don’t think the food and service deserves a michelin star.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Chef Yuu, along with the other chefs and staff, is very friendly. It’s hard to find a place in NY where you can enjoy classic French cuisine. This restaurant offers a wonderful experience with a touch of Japanese delicacy and precision, along with unique Japanese ingredients. I also discovered the excellence of wine pairings here; the synergy between the food and wine makes everything even more delicious. The final dessert is outstanding as well. I can’t wait to go back!

It was incredible, we had dinner on the night of the 10th, it was too special for our friend since it was her birthday, every detail, every attention, everything was incredible on the part of the entire team, I am amazed to find places with so much quality in NYC, they all deserve a 10 because they were uniquely genuine, amazing, the dinner was 100 out of 10 and everything that accompanied it, the place is very cozy, it makes you feel at home, I hope to return soon, thank you very much for the good evening, all the recognition is due.!!!!!

My 31 visit here. Why 31 visit, because my happiest place always give me the best experience. A Michelin restaurant accounts five universal criteria: the quality of the ingredients, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of techniques, the personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine and, just as importantly, consistency both across the entire menu and over time.
Yuu’s quality of ingredients beyond any doubt. For example the classic Cavier brioche, I had many Cavier brioche in different restaurants, here is the best, Cavier is Petrossian, which add a burst of decadence to every crispy brioche bite. The amount of Cavier also touched me, everyone can see the pic of Cavier brioche,it’s a Cavier bomb. Compared with Quince’s Cavier brioche, the soul is sour cream + cream cheese, which makes it the best and the unique.
Talk about the flavors. I had all Yuu’s dishes since it open, never miss anyone. Menu is seasonal, but some food is so good and I cannot miss them. So I create my own menu which always add on wagyu brioche etc…someone think the amount is big? I don’t think so, every dish is a artwork for both eyes and mouth, the most important thing is delicious food won’t make you feel stuffed, some dishes I love so much: unagi risotto, truffle risotto, Gin pepper fish, the new dish crab and lobster, and always my classic fish pie.
Comes to service, thank you Annie always fullfill me all requirements, I’m not an easy person, often have some special requests like double amuse, sub some dishes to some new dishes, she never makes any mistake and every time makes sure me and my mom and my friends so satisfied and grateful. You can always see her busy in kitchen, control the deliver time control the diet restrictions, she is the best!
Not sure how many times I may come up eventually, as long as Yuu is open, I will keep coming my happiest place. For those who said ‘won’t come again because see little mistakes made’, I would say yes , please stay at home and be a potato couch, watch tv never go wrong and gives you a 100% correct experience. ?

We went to this place for a birthday celebration this year and enjoyed their pickled vegetables, surf clam, and pie. I also love their range of dish options. I recommend this restaurant.

We were booked to celebrate my 40th birthday. A big birthday!!
They apparently had the wrong number but they did choose to email the morning of to remind us of their cancellation policy but no mention they couldn’t get through to us.
Unfortunately my sister suffered an unexpected miscarriage the day of our reservation and we were dealing with an emergency but restaurant yuu seems to believe empathy is something they don’t need to concern themselves with. We called, we emailed but no response. Eventually we were sent a cold and frankly disgusting email being told they do not refund the pre-payment.
BUT patrons please don’t worry, if I can put my sister through the pain of obtaining ‘medical proof’ they will make an exception for a refund. Phew! What kindness! DONT EAT HERE. Humanity is lost on these people who are so full of themselves it’s absurd.

By far one of the best dining experiences I have had, the food was not only unique and delicious, the staff were also incredibly friendly and attentive.
Every dish I have was outstanding, but I would like to highlight the Unagi dish being so well thought out and flavorful and the Madai dish for being so well put together.
There is no doubt we will be back to see what Chef Yuu will put together in the future.

Unforgettable $100pp 4-course dessert tasting menu by Executive Pastry Chef Masaki Takahashi with thoughtful tea pairings for each course by Sommelier Akio Matsumoto. Service Manager Annie Wu and the entire Restaurant Yuu team were exceptionally friendly and accommodating.
Restaurant Yuu surpasses all expectations and stands out even among other Michelin-starred establishments with its omotenashi service philosophy and imaginative dishes.

Chef Yuu Shimano opened his restaurant in May 2023, and received his first Michelin Star in November 2023! Yup, he really is THAT talented! They have around 18 counter seats for dining. We first visited Restaurant Yuu in March of 2024.
When it was time to start cooking, they dimmed the light for a second to get everyone’s attention, then they opened the curtain to reveal the beautiful kitchen and all the chefs. It was like a beginning of a theatre.
The menu is 15-couse Omakase only. The first four courses were amuse bouche: Ikura, Mussel, and Foie Gras on an artistic display. Then a hot soup was delivered immediately after, so we can have them together.
Next was Shima-Aji, then Pissaladière, and the seventh course was Oyster and Wagyu Tartare. Every thing thus far tasted like heaven. Every bite was exceptional!
We received a surprise from Chef Yuu, their gorgeous caviar dish. A generous amount of caviar with sour cream on brioche. It was as amazing as it looks!
Back to the course, number eight was Arctic Char, Abalone Risotto, Langoustine, Egg and Truffle with their homemade bread & butter. The food heaven continues, with every dish delivering amazing flavors.
A couple of the courses had a choice of dishes, and we chose a different ones so that we can taste them all. We got Monkfish, Cod, Veal, and Lamb. Also, their signature dish, Canard, with loads of shaved truffles. After all the savory dishes were done, I could not pick a favorite dish, as each and every dish was so fantastic!
Then two desserts to finish off the course. Pear & Yuzu, and Matcha & Strawberry. They were both incredible!
Once you are done, you can move over to the lounge area, and you receive complimentary hot tea and some petit fours. And, you even gets some desserts to take home with! How amazing is this? We had such a great time, we went back for more in June. The menu was mostly different, so we got to try so many different dishes, all amazing as expected. We will be sure to return again for more incredible dishes!!!

Firstly, this is undoubtedly the finest French-Japanese restaurant I’ve experienced. While it is on the pricier side, the sophisticated decor and unique atmosphere make it well worth it. The food is absolutely stunning, each dish a true work of art.
However, the number of courses can be overwhelming. I think reducing it to around seven or eight courses would make for a more memorable experience, as it’s difficult to fully appreciate and remember each dish when there are so many. Since I don’t take photos of my food, it can be challenging to recall every detail.
That said, a few dishes stood out, particularly the lamb steak and the first appetizer, a trio of one-bite wonders. The mille-feuille is my favorite dessert here. Thank you—I will definitely be returning.
