I took my wife of four years to this restaurant, a place I usually love because the food is always delicious. Unfortunately, that is the only positive aspect I can mention. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 30 years, I can honestly say that poor service is something I absolutely cannot stand. During my career, I always emphasized to my staff that even the best food in the world can't make up for bad service—because if the service is lacking, guest won't come back to experience that food again.
On Friday, June 6th, I arrived at 4:30 pm to drop off an anniversary gift, hoping they could bring it out with dessert for my wife. An older lady setting up outside told me rudely that they didn’t open until 5 pm. I understood and said I’d return. When I came back at 5 pm, I spoke with what appeared to be the manager or maître d’, who was pleasant. I left my gift and explained that I would like it brought out with dessert, and that they could choose the dessert.
Fast forward to 9:30 pm, and we are seated at our table. Our first server was a lady I remembered from my previous visit, when she was a bartender. We ordered drinks—a glass of wine for my wife and a beer for me. The wine arrived quickly, but my beer took five more minutes. We also ordered olives as an appetizer, which, I am not exaggerating, took a full 30 minutes to arrive. For those unfamiliar with proper timing, appetizers should typically be served within 5-7 minutes, and mains within 10-12 minutes.
We then asked the server when our mains would arrive. She explained that the chicken and fish dishes we ordered take longer to prepare. At this point, we had been there for 52 minutes, and still, no mains. I ordered another round of drinks. While my wife’s wine was brought out promptly, I had to wait another five minutes for mine, despite seeing it sitting at the bar.
I understand that no restaurant can be perfect every time, but it was disappointing that the staff, knowing it was our anniversary, chose to provide such poor service. As someone who has owned restaurants and managed some of the biggest establishments in NYC, I always made sure our guests knew they were appreciated—whether it was with a glass of champagne, a small gesture, or acknowledgment.
It’s not about expecting freebies but about setting your establishment apart. Unfortunately, after mentioning our special day to the server, she did not improve her service. At the end of our meal, she brought out my wife’s gift, but no dessert was offered.
Honestly, I don’t see myself returning, and I doubt the owners or managers even care about the experience we had. It’s a shame because this place has was one of my favorites but the poor service marred the entire evening.
Loved it. Beautiful food!
I’m so thankful this spot is walking distance from me. The service is SO friendly, the food is incredible, and the vibe inside is just right for either a date or dinner with friends. Don’t skip the fava bean puree. Oddly when I look at the menu not many items “jump” out at me but what I’ve learned here is to just trust the staff. I’ve yet to eat something that wasn’t 10/10!
To die for!! It’s hard not to order the whole menu. They start you off with the most delicious fresh bread and then it just keeps getting better!! Great drinks and great atmosphere, beautiful comforting vibe. I’ve had tables for two and tables for four-six here, they’re very accommodating. It’s an easy place for conversation and just a great time!
Go to date night restaurant in Brooklyn! Roman’s never fails to impress. Great ambience and the food is amazing. Expensive treat though..be prepared to easily drop north of $300 for dinner for two.

I haven't left the restaurant yet but from the moment I stepped in I knew it was a 5 star. Our waiter was a star, recommended great wine, great food and great everything, he absoulutely nailed it! It was my first time here and I can for sure say that it's the best restaurant I've been in NYC by far. The food, amazing and beyond. The wine incredible. And the ambience felt like Rome!! Would absolutely recommend and if I'm in the city again, would come back in no time. Thank you!!!

This is another amazing restaurant in Fort Greene! The chicken diavolo was absolutely delicious as well as all the other food we ordered. The italian beer and wine selections are great too! Our servers were friendly

I met some old friends for dinner here. There were three (3) of us and we ordered everything to share. We started with the Fava Bean puree with Chicory and the Crostini with Ricotta, Broccolini, and Salsa Picante. For pastas we had the Maccheroni with Sungold Tomatoes, Corn, and Basil. As well as the Linguini with Smoked Swordfish, Olives, and Capers. We also shared the Chicken Diavolo with Roasted Cauliflower. For desserts we shared the Wild Fennel Ice Cream and the Chocolate Sorbetto.
Everything was delicious and it was the perfect amount of food for the three (3) of us. The service was excellent. It was a bit loud. But, that's common in NYC restaurants.

The food was fine, but uneven. Some of the swordfish in the pasta was dry, some was good. The tomato salad was okay, it didn't do much with the tomato. The black bass was really good, tender and crispy outside, and the dressing really lifted the flavors.
I felt the waitress was rushing me. She stood by the table while I was taking the last portion of the salad, and she took the plates twice literally while I was eating. The place looked nice, but it was extremely loud. Even though loud is the sad trend in NYC now, the noise level here was off the charts and for that reason alone I can't recommend it, but adding the bad service, I really don't want to be back.

Good meal, would recommend coming here. They change their menu so I imagine it’s nice to come and see what’s new. We had the fava bean purée which I would come back for by itself. We also had the seabass and pasta with eggplant and Parmesan. Cooked well.
