Finally got around here last weekend! I would say for it being the end of the season, it was decent. I definitely plan to try it again in the spring or summer. The red flight was fine, but the mulled wine was what really hit the spot on the chilly night. Highly recommend Porto as the food option!

Robbed $28/person for the reservation and no drinks were included. Essentially paid a couple hundred for a leaf littered picnic table on an empty rooftop with mediocre views. There was no service beyond staff handing us drinks from inside their little bar shack. Someone’s unoriginal idea to serve wine on the first available 5th floor walk up rooftop in Brooklyn with one of those impressively tacky fake plant walls that could’ve been a patch of soccer field turf as a “Photo Booth”. A funeral venue would’ve been more alive than this sad joint. At least one worker there was nice.

Staff wasn’t professional and didn’t seem to want to be there. Looked a bit ran down and there could have been improvements to make this roof more enjoyable. Great concept and personally didn’t mind the intricacy on finding your way to this roof. Left within an hour…probably won’t be back.

The building itself is filthy. Bathrooms are horrible And you have to woke up full flights upstairs, no elevator

I love this place. It’s definitely an unconventional location but that’s part of what makes it such a gem. We factored in extra time to find it which meant we arrived before they officially opened - they couldn’t have been nicer and were rushing round to get everything ready for us quicker.

Once you book tickets, you’re on your own!
The address is not indicative of the location so it’s very confusing to actually get to the venue which is hidden behind Wegmans and only accessible via walking or asking the drive-in gate attendant where to go. Once you do reach the building you’re notified via a very blunt sign there is no elevator access! So your hiking up to that roof…
Door staff was not helpful or polite. They do provide folding fans which is helpful as it is full sun for quite a while.
Audio/visual was sketchy at best.
Cool idea…terrible implementation.

Incredible location. Nice view. You’ll be able to relax and have a drink in a very unique setting, surrounded by vitis vinifera trees, the same that they use to produce their own wine.
They don’t provide food, but you can order for delivery.

Rooftop Reds is a true hidden gem in the Navy Yard of Downtown Brooklyn. It offers a nice view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan skylines (though most of the manhattan side is covered by surrounding buildings). The vibes are relaxed with open seating, hammocks, large tables, and backyard games like cornhole. I especially like that the grape vines are intertwined with the seating, so that you can sit all around the plants while you enjoy your wine or cocktail.

Service was spectacular with two sommeliers working the wine bar. They took their time to explain the menu and patiently described the flavor profile of each of the wines to me and my friend (two complete novices). I suggest trying their in house wines and the Le Mone spritz, which is similar to an Aperol Spritz but made with a lemon liqueur instead.

It can be kind of difficult to get to the location since it in inside the Navy Yard and there is no direct access from the main street. Once you get there, you have to go up about 4 flights of stairs since the elevator is for special use only.

They have a small snack menu but you can also order pizza from IL Porto, which will be delivered right to the rooftop. You cannot bring outside food or drink.

Reservations are mandatory but I went on a Friday evening and there was only about 3 other groups there. There was also no cover when I went. Based on the other reviews, they must be more strict and charge cover on busier days or weekends.

I plan on coming back here with more family and friends!

5/5 stars!

I love this place. It’s definitely an unconventional location but that’s part of what makes it such a gem. We factored in extra time to find it which meant we arrived before they officially opened - they couldn’t have been nicer and were rushing round to get everything ready for us quicker.

Although there isn’t much food on the menu (they don’t have a kitchen) you can order pizza which gets delivered to the roof.

Of course it’s not like visiting a countryside vineyard, but if you’re looking for something quirky to do with a few hours in Brooklyn I would definitely recommend Rooftop Reds.

The wine we tried (Sparkling Riesling) was fab. The Hammocks are amazingly comfortable and loved the views of Downtown Brooklyn and the Empire State.

The emailed instructions for getting there do more harm than good. Had to walk through a Wegmans parking lot which took ~15 mins and theres no elevator so be prepared to go up 5 flights of stairs.

They don't let you bring in outside food but only offer some olives and chips. The views of downtown BK are nice but you really can't see much else and zero of manhattan. The layout doesnt really flow well / just feels thrown together. No music playing which wouldve been fine if it was busy but the place was pretty empty which was surprising given we went there for sunset on a beautiful summer day. I think the reputation has finally caught up with it unfortunately.

Overall rating: 3.4Um I can’t figure this place out. I know for a fact I went during the wrong month because there were no vineyards. But the reservation process, the lack of directions plus no food was rough.I’m not sure if I would consider this a roof vineyard which is how it is marketed to me on every tiktok, but… it was an experience. Not my vibe for the commute & a lot of confusion. I might try again when I figure out when wine season is.. for now, I don’t recommend if you’re trying to live out an east coast vineyard experience.

For a rooftop establishment in Brooklyn, I was disheartened to know that the only option for diners to access the rooftop is by using the stairs, which is only catered to able-bodied individuals. Please do better, thanks.

I attended Rooftop for a private dinner event and the restaurant staff and owner where very welcoming and polite. The views of downtown Brooklyn were a nice backdrop as well as the grape vines growing around the seating. It was nice to enjoy the breeze and have some food with friends. All in all a great experience and a nice little gem tucked away in the navy yards.
