Went the night before around 1am (open until 4am) and then came for my 2pm reservation the next day, both times being told they closed early without posting or communicating anywhere.
Have to update my review because holy macaroni, we went here for brunch on Sunday and worst experience ever. The time before this was subpar as well. On Sunday, there was one waiter for the whole dining room at busy brunch, unfortunately the waiter was also not pleasant (understandably so). Our cups were dirty/had chunks I couldnt scrape off, no silverware given, and the food was HORRIBLE. My partner ordered the Hey Scram & there was NO SCRAMble, it was about half the size it used to be, and it was basically just broccoli utterly covered in hollandaise sauce. My all-star had 4 squishy vegan bacon slices bc they were out of sausage and the pancakes were completely mishapen, hard on the outside, tough to cut and still liquidy inside, the scramble had absolutely no flavor. Our friends ordered fries (these were good), wings (they were out of sauce), and mozzarella sticks (which never came out). The waiter never checked on us so when we flagged them down for the check we told them the moz sticks never came and they said “I’ll take them off”. No apology. Atmosphere was just off (not like it once was), service was bad (but probably not their fault bc they were doing everything), and the food was some of the worst I’ve had. I can’t in good conscience recommend this place anymore unfortunately. Updated from previous review on 2024-09-23
We absolutely loved our visit at Ro's Diner. The restaurant is decorated on a '50s style, staff are very friendly and there is a huge selection of food to choose from. Portions are very generous too. I would recommend visiting if you are in Brooklyn.
I used to come to champs before it was closed and I heard that, there was still a vegan place in the same spot. I ordered two different styles of wings. For 26 dollars I could have just gotten frozen vegan tenders and threw some sauce on them myself as they are very underwhelming and no where near the quality of the previous place. My friend got the salmon and I tried a bit and it was far too over seasoned. Another friend had gotten the chikn pot pie and it was pretty bad. We also got loaded tots and while they were good the bits of “bacon” were not cooked enough. I did get the cheesesteak and that was good. The server was really good and although they left us for a while I'm not holding that against them as it did get super busy. Overall I'm pretty disappointed and if I were ever to come back it would be just for the cheesesteak.
Loved EVERYTHING!

got a breakfast “all star” platter. the waffles were decent but SO small - just not what i expected when ordering a big breakfast platter.
if i wanted frozen hash browns and vegan meats i could have that at home. there was nothing fresh here. even the just egg “scramble” was so basic. like… does it have some cheese? veggies? no.
very little care put into the preparation / presentation.
if you wanna spend $20 on super processed vegan food this is the place but i’m not gonna be back.
it tasted fine btw but yeah.
honestly best things were the fries and a vegan milkshake. can get that anywhere.
Place was also slowwwww and the waiter forgot my coffee…
Oh yeah and on 8/1 i went to go here for 2 pm. called ahead and everything. the instagram said they closed at 3. website said nothing. Anyway, showed up at 2 and they were closed. So we went back on 8/3.
RIP champs.

The knowledge of a great vegan menu made my dining experience wonderful. The food delicious, not greasy, and service was great. This will be my regular spot every time I go to Brooklyn.
Vegetarian options: Love the cheese steak sandwich. Best one I have eaten, even better than the meat steaks I have eaten in my lifetime.

Food is inconsistent. Every time I go, I ordered the same few things and it is hit or miss. My friend and I both ordered Philly cheesesteaks that came without cheese! It was also overly spiced with black pepper and practically inedible. My side salad was soaking wet lettuce and a slice of tomato - no dressing. They forgot my husband's shake and brought it after we finished our meal. That was my last meal there.
Love the food, great service! Ambiance was okay, but the food was so fire it don’t matter.

Big fans of the old Champ's diner, we decided to give this place a try. We waited over a half-hour for our food, but I think I saw it sitting over by the kitchen waiting for someone to grab it.
Unfortunately by the time the food came to us, the food was not good at all. My Corned Beef Hash looked and smelled strange. Another reviewer said it smelled like bubble gum, I think it was way too much anise which can smell like licorice. I tasted it anyway-- it was cold, dry, and very much was like eating licorice flavored dirt.
The waiter told me it was was made from "Chunk Food", a frozen, ulta-processed plant-based meat. If I wanted frozen processed food I would have bought some at the supermarket, where I could have at least made it hot. Another reviewer noted that Chunk Food can be good when done correctly -- here it was not.
I was given some mozzarella sticks instead, cold in the inside but definitely edible -- but the tomato sauce on the side seemed spoiled, unless it was made with sparkling seltzer water.
Nothing we were served seemed "fresh". I really wanted to liked this place.
Staff was great, very relaxed and understanding. Won't be coming back though.
Vegetarian options: Everything on the menu is either made from ulta-processed plant-based manufacturing plants, or from stale ingredients. Not recommended.
