This restaurant has a nice, intimate vibe inside. There’s a large table in the middle of the restaurant that’s shared between different parties, and the surrounding tables are fairly close together as well. We even saw some traffic jams of people waiting to be seated and others trying to leave. If this doesn’t bother you then you’ll probably feel nice and cozy.

The food was good. The escarole salad might be the highlight here, with the sweet potatoes coming in at second. The rigatoni and chicken was enjoyable as well. The only miss was the broccoli. The sauce included sits on the bottom of the plate, so you kind of have to eat a bit of dry broccoli without much flavor to get there. And when you do get there, it’s not really enough.

Overall a good restaurant to try out a few times as they rotate their menu seasonally (I was told)

We have been coming here for years, over the last few months I kept hearing from friends how the food quality went down and they stopped coming, however 4 of us decided to still give it a chance, we came on a Saturday night early enough to put our name down, the host (wearing a beanie, beard and a flannel shirt) on Dec 20th 2025, took my name and said it would be 30 min and he would call us. We went to their sister bar Anais around the corner to get a drink, 40 min later I had a missed call and when I called back it went to a voice mail, so we went back to the restaurant, as we entered we waited good 5 min as the host was on the other side of the restaurant literally just looking at us, none approached us, he deliberately made it a point to not come over and greet the guests, there was a 4 top ready, so we thought ok this would be ours, host finally decides to come our way, while getting breadcrumbs off one of the table first, then he comes and says couple more minutes, I tried to explain to him that we put our name down now an hour ago and that I got a missed call, but he rudely interrupted me and said he never called and straight up walked away! At this point since this is a tiny place we walked outside to wait and all 4 of us decided that we don’t want to spend our money here after being treated like this. There are so many great places in the neighborhood, we are locals, you should treat people nicely, even if busy or you make a mistake, host should have apologized - it would have been a very different story. Rucola used to be cozy with great service and food, now it just is busy, food got worse and service is rude. 4 of us are joining other friends in the neighborhood to sadly never come back.

Very delicious food. Was a little awkward walking in and trying to figure out who the host was or who was gonna seat us. Overall good experience though.

Had 2/3 of the pasta dishes and the Gargeneli tasked like buttered noodles with no taste. The short rib pasta tasted nothing more than hamburger helper but even hamburger helper tastes better. The atmosphere is nice but we did wait over 40 mins for essentially hamburger helper and buttered noodles at $30 each.

Went there because in Google Maps reviews said it is a kid friendly place. It definitely did not disappointed! Lovely place. A bit crowded, meaning the indoor sitting has a lot if tables and not much space to move around but it is ok because it’s a place where to eat, drink and socialize. No dance floor needed!
Just a little heads up on the definition of Kid friendly. Yes, people are nice to you and your kids but if you expect extra special treatment for kids like designated kid menus, those cute coloring kits other family restaurants give when visiting with kids, that will mot be there. So make sure to have something of yours in order to entertain your kids.
Waiters were very nice. The bill was surprisingly reasonable too.

10/10 experience.

Came here for a quick breakfast sandwich and a cup of breakfast tea. Small and cozy space with friendly staff and service. Really cute. Limited menu and close quarters and a long communal table. It’s a vibe.

Very unfortunately, went here for a date night on a busy Tuesday night. Our waiter basically ignored us. Didn’t really care that we didn’t have drinks and was not attentive when food was delayed. The manager ended up being very nice and removing things from our bill, but it was not worth the terrible service on a date night where we just wanted to enjoy ourselves. There are too many other restaurants in New York with excellent service.

Awesome spicy marg - think it’s called this and that or something. Escarole salad was so simple but perfect. Sourdough bread was superb. Chicken was juicy with crispy skin and delicious croutons and cucumber and tomato salad. Duck and celeriac puree was also delish. Brussel sprouts were also done just right. Only disappointment was no room to try dessert - will be less gluttonous next time to avoid this.

A cozy neighborhood Italian spot with a warm, rustic charm. The pastas are fresh and beautifully simple, the burrata is a standout, and the cocktails are well-balanced. It’s usually busy, but the atmosphere feels intimate and genuine. Perfect for a relaxed dinner with friends or a quiet date night!

A great neighborhood spot!

My boyfriend and I came here on a wednesday evening. It was more crowded than I expected. We were sat immediately but our order was not taken for some time. Once taken though, the food came out very quickly (except for our dessert), well timed for our meal. Everything tasted good! The parsnip purée with the duck was delicious.

Though we had to wait a bit for our initial order and dessert, our server was effective and good humored. He comped our dessert because of the wait. Thank you!

All in all, Rucola is exactly what you want when you’re out in park slope with friends and family. Cozy atmosphere. Good food. Great service.
