Food was delicious, very flavorful, and fresh. We had the challah schnitzel sandwich and chicken shawarma with fluffy and warm pita. So good! The schnitzel in particular was perfectly done.

The schnitzel was raw…
Delicious! My boyfriend and I had the chicken schnitzel and short rib— great flavor, great presentation, great all around. The service here was also very pleasant and efficient! Can’t wait to come back soon.
The food here is extremely good. I’ve been twice so far, and I’m in love with the mushroom hummus and the sabich salad. My server, Mauricio, was also amazing—he was doing everything himself, from taking orders to serving and bussing tables, even making coffee. Honestly, he should have had some help. Anyway, definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

I’ve become a big fan of Safta on Franklin Ave. Every time I visit, the ingredients taste incredibly fresh and the dishes are full of bright, clean flavors. You can really tell they care about the quality of what they serve.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting — calm, pleasant, and never rushed. The staff always greets me with a smile and makes the experience feel personal.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or a relaxed meal, Safta is a place that consistently delivers great food and a genuinely enjoyable vibe. Highly recommended!

The service was great and very friendly.
The menu is amazing; however, the food lacked a bit of flavor.
The atmosphere is incredible and the place itself is beautiful.

It’s been on our list to try since they opened.
First impression was that it was smaller than it looked from the outside, I can see needing a reservation during the busy time.
Food & service were good but I have a hard time seeing myself come back considering all the other great options.
Hummus was delicious - smooth, fresh, nice balance of ingredients. The pita was also light and fluffy. You will need another one so just order another ahead of time.
We came during brunch so the menu might be different for dinner.
Chicken challah sandwich - big and a solid choice
Malawach - solid choice
Halloumi salad - very filling , added chicken which was not needed
Home fries (not pictured) - excellent fries with a nice aioli sauce

Restaurantji Recommends
I discovered this place after seeing it recommended as one of the best spots for shakshuka in NYC — and it truly is. I actually travelled almost an hour from Central Park just to try it, and it was absolutely worth it.
The shakshuka is incredible: rich, flavourful, with real roasted pepper pieces and just the right level of spice. The chicken shawarma in pita was also outstanding — so delicious that during our 3-day stay in NYC we ended up making the trip here twice.
The team is genuinely warm and attentive. You can see how much care they put into every dish and every guest — it feels heartfelt, not just routine.
This is a top, top recommendation from me. Wishing the whole team a Michelin star — they truly deserve it.

Absolutely amazing food! Every dish has a very unique flavor without overpowering the taste of the actual food item. Great addition to the neighborhood!
