Screamers convinced me that New York-style pizza is legit and not just talk. I’m from the West Coast so whenever I’ve had “New York style” pizza that is not in New York, it’s always been just okay. I guess for some things, you just have to get it straight from the source.
My favs from Screamers:
- Fancy kale: seitan sausage and spicy pesto with marinated kale that cuts through the vegan cheese
- Clean slide: similar to above but with broccolini
- Green Scream: cremini and oyster mushroom on red sauce with spinach
- Vampire: garlicky enough to kill the undead
Sells by the slice and in full pies. I haven’t made it past the pizza but Screamers also carries sandwiches, calzones, seitan wings, and zeppoles for dessert.

We ordered a pizza for pick up and received the completely wrong one. we showed up 15 minutes after estimated pick up time and the food was still not ready. When we brought the wrong pizza back to get the new correct pizza (mind you it’s a 15 minute walk each way), they TOOK THE OLD PIZZA BACK AND SERVED IT TO AN UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMER ???? after sitting for an hour at room temperature! the new pizza didn’t even have all of the toppings on it. the person behind the counter was twiddling their thumbs for 15 minutes before deciding to remake the pizza once we informed them of their mistake…? The entire ordeal took an hour out of our evening.
I will never come here again. By the way, they do not pick up their phone even though it rings in the restaurant over and over again. If the owner is reading this, you need to fire the front of house employees and get folks who actually care and will not ignore phone calls and practice carelessness towards customers in every way. I would rather put my money towards a restaurant that treats their customers with care and respect and not entitlement and indifference.

Screaming for pizza! How did we get so lucky to have the best rated vegan pizza in the US near us in NYC? It’s amazing.
The pizza is delicious, like a traditional warm cheesy thin crust pie. Slices are large and the crust itself is something to savor.

If you’re craving vegan pizza, Screamers is really good! Ordered takeout so the food was inevitably a bit cold. But after popping it in the oven at home it was quite tasty. The crust and breading was especially good. Kinda pricy.
Ordered two items:
-Margherita (medium pie): excellent!
-Screamers pizza with added artichoke (large pie): wished there was tomato sauce and more vegan cheese but still flavorful and garlic-y!

This place was so dirty I couldn’t even eat the food. Literally everything was so dusty crusty… the tables were greasy. Floors gross. Walls, wall art, & ceilings look like they have not been cleaned in years. Please CLEAN, & sanitize your restaurant daily! Make your employees wear gloves.

$35 for a sausage mushroom pizza that has shavings - nay - a whisper of both ingredients is crazy. Like literally less than half a mushroom cut into teeny tiny pieces and a teaspoon of sausage on the whole pizza. Will be taking my business to places with a more reasonable price to portion ratio.
