Came here for Restaurant Week - what a perfectly balanced and rich menu (pre-fix menu also includes a glass of wine and a cocktail). We had XO Sauce Oyster Mushroom and Fresh Squid w/Garlic and Chili Oil for appetizer (very flavorful); perfectly tender and juicy Pork Soup Dumplings (black truffle and pork roe); Lychee Kung Pao Crispy Pork and Braised Beef w/Abalone in Tomato Sauce for entrée (hearty portions and great taste); Sweet & Sour Cabbage and Snow Pea Shoots w/Garlic for vegetable (the best part of the meal! fresh, yummy and such a symphony of tastes!) and Yuzu Coconut Cotta and Osmanthus Ice Jelly for dessert (just the right amount of sweetness and fun texture!) - everything was up to par!
Service was very delicate and attentive, and the whole atmosphere quite nice. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of Szechuan cuisine.

I thought I had found all of the semi upscale crazy delish tasty Szechuan Chinese places in the city. I was wrong. Shan is out of Control good, the dumplings and mapo tofu I had were stellar, excellent spice flavors and ingredients that just were made with love and attention. I dare say this place has eclipsed cafe china and birds of a feather. It’s that good! I stumbled in randomly before a meeting on a Sunday, sat at the bar left happy and full. Will return 7 stars!

Went to celebrate lunar new year and opted for the restaurant week menu for dinner. For $60, it’s an amazing deal. So much food which also comes with two alcohol beverages. I ordered an extra cocktail, nutty fashioned, which was delicious. Everything we ordered was tasty. This restaurant was really busy and totally understand that there were times where dishes were missing or came out really late, esp given it was lunar new year. The server was the friendliest person and was so positive the entire night. It was a long dinner that lasted close to 3 hours but was so worth it. Definitely recommend their Szechuan dishes and soup dumplings!

Today I was feeling Chinese food then I found this online but here's what I thought about it. So my friend and I went and we got The kung Pao chicken, scallion pancakes, wontons and broth, pork pot stickers Xiao long bao and rice. I'm gonna start off with the best, so my favorite was the Scallion pancakes, they tasted like traditional Chinese scallion pancakes, they were flakey not fried too much and not oily so overall I give them a 9/10. Now the pork potstickers they were basically like regular gaozi they were pretty good so I give them a 7/10 not the best but not the worst. Then the wontons and broth, in my opinion they could be more flavorful for my taste but it tastes much like traditional wontons in soup so I give it a 7.5/10. Now the Xiao Long Bao, they were honestly pretty good they were pretty flavorful with the sauce they give and overall a solid 8/10 . The rice was a bit dry and I had to add water to it due to the dryness so that was a 5.2/10 for me. And lastly one of their most popular mains the item that determined this rating, The infamous Kung Pao Chicken, honestly they were very disappointing, they were a popular item so I had my hopes up but they were soon brought way down, I thought they would be flavorful and actually tasting like chicken but they were not flavorful, doughy (they added way too much cornstarch) and overall not the best so honestly it's a 2/10. So overall I was a little mean but this does not deserve a 5 star rating (in my opinion) and I hope this helped you decide if you wanted to come or not.

Five points of praise! The food is delicious and not salty! Highly recommend the beer duck, steamed egg and braised pork with pickled vegetables! I will try other dishes next time😃It’s just that the room is a bit cold and the heating is not enough. The environment is very good and beautifully decorated!

My husband and I stumbled upon this place as we were walking down Smith street. We were so impressed by the highly attentive service, delicious food, and cocktails. We ordered the mapo tofu and asked for their recommendation on a vegetable side. They suggested snow pea shoots and they were outstanding! I would highly recommend Shan if you would like a taste of authentic Szechuan, but also with some quality cocktails and top notch service.
