Don't go here! (So I can always have a seat when I want to stop by.) This place is great all around. 1 tip though, lower the music from a 10 to an 8. That's literally it.

When you go through the door you feel like you are entering a cabin in the middle of La Patagonia, Argentina. You should try the beef empanadas! Delicious, it worth every cent!! As an argentinian living abroad for many years, this place was a real "shelter" because every time I went dinner I felt more close to my home country ??❤️

Ate here with a group of people, including my girlfriend and I who have celiacs, pizza tasted delicious, enough so that I specifically asked my server after it came out to make sure the dough was gluten free. I was assured everything was safe and okay to eat, but about 2 hours later I had the worst night of gluten poisoning my girlfriend and I have had in the last few years.I can understand a dumb mistake leading to a cross contamination, but when I called the restaurant to ask to refund just the pizza we had that we believe got us sick, we were told there was no way the restaurant could have messed up. I am not the kind of person to immediately try to ask for a full refund or anything, and suggested just a refund of one of the pizzas; however the person I spoke to first insisted that the server I had last night didn’t exist, then when I described him in full detail, coyly said he would pay for our next pizza on the house.Look, if you are gluten intolerant, they have awesome pizza. If you are celiacs or a similar condition where under no circumstances can you have gluten, this is not the restaurant to go to. For a place that claims compliance, and adamant claims from staff, you would assume they follow the guidelines they claim. From personal experience, stay away from here if you have a zero tolerance gluten-free policy.

Turned up about 20mins before they're supposed to open and they let me and a lesbain couple in. Really friendly service, fire place and wood fired pizza oven. Interesting decor, nice place to chill out in.

Stepping into Shelter, nestled in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is like being transported into a haven of culinary delight and warmth. As a chef, I find myself instantly captivated by the restaurant’s effortlessly cool vibe and rustic charm. The space exudes an inviting ambiance, with its cozy, cabin-like décor, flickering fireplace, and thoughtfully curated aesthetics that strike the perfect balance between trendy and timeless. Now, let’s talk about the food. The pizzas here are nothing short of a masterpiece. Crafted with an artisan’s touch, each pie emerges from the wood-fired oven with a perfect, slightly charred crust that sings with authenticity and flavor. The harmonious blend of high-quality toppings melds beautifully, creating a symphony of taste in every bite.Equally impressive is their hamburger – a juicy, perfectly seared patty enveloped in a fresh, pillowy bun. It’s an exquisite balance of textures and flavors that elevates the humble burger to new culinary heights. Every bite is a celebration, and I find myself relishing the careful craftsmanship that has gone into its creation.Beyond the exceptional food, what truly sets Shelter apart is the kindness that permeates the establishment. The staff is genuinely warm and welcoming, making every guest feel like a cherished friend. Their attentive and personable service is a testament to the ethos of hospitality that Shelter embodies. In essence, Shelter is a sublime blend of culinary brilliance, heartwarming ambiance, and genuine kindness. It stands out as a beacon of coolness and culinary artistry, seamlessly weaving together a memorable dining experience that resonates deeply. Bravo, Shelter! You have captured my chef’s heart and palate with your impeccable offerings and vibe. Magnifico!

Called over the phone to place a gluten free pizza order, I have celiac disease, I can’t have gluten. I asked for gluten free pizza, whoever took my order seemed confused and thought gluten free is “no mushrooms”.This is the second time this happened where they either contaminate their dough or do not even care, i got violently sick and threw up, i would not trust this place if you have gluten free allergy. Absolutely terrible.

Terrible, Terrible Service - Very Meh Food - Decent AtmosphereMy friends (along with their 8 month old baby) and I dropped by yesterday to get out of the cold rain and grab a bite. As soon as we got in, we received such a strange, cold reception. The place was mostly empty, the host (a burly, bald guy) wanted us to sit by the cold entrance, instead of the open table close to the fire place - we insisted and he ultimately relented - this shouldn't even have been a discussion (period). We had about 4 different servers in the span of an hour. The first one was pleasant but seemed confused when taking our order - as if it was his first time serving. However, when we wanted to order additional food and waited long enough for someone to drop by, I tried to get the attention of 2 servers who were chatting about 8 feet away. This is where it gets super strange - one of them looks over and with a fake smile, says "hello" - as if I'm trying to engage in conversation instead of walking over and asking if we she could help us - you know, simple hospitality etiquette! Then, I can't help but laugh so I say we would like to order another item while we're still about 8 feet away. They still don't come over right away - it seemed like I interrupted their conversation.Eventually, they take our order then walk away and my friend sees them talking to each other while they look over at our table. Clearly talking about us "behind our backs" but in front of essentially in front of our faces. RUDE BEHAVIOR. The waitress returns to clarify the order since they didn't get it the first time.TO THE MANAGEMENT - teach your staff some basic manners. When your restaurant has a lot of empty tables, don't offer your least attractive seat. Have your wait staff learn to respectfully approach tables and take orders. Not take orders from a distance. Obnoxious and rude treatment of your customers doesn't engender good feelings for your restaurant. The Food - you would think a pizza with onions cooked in a wood fire oven would come out caramelized, instead they tasted raw. The tomato sauce on the margherita pizza was absolutely bland - some seasoning would go a long way.Food is way overpriced and honestly not great - as a few reviewers here have pointed out.The Atmosphere - the only redeeming part of this place is the atmosphere. Feels nice and cozy - would be a pleasant place to be were it not for the obnoxious service.Overall, a 1/5 star experience.

This is my favorite pizza place in Williamsburg. It’s pet friendly, the atmosphere is amazing, servers are super nice and pizzas are unbelievably delicious. My favorite is Quattro Stagioni. Very close to European style pizza. And yea, they have great wine selection as well!

The GF fugazza pizza was the best gf pizza I've ever had. You could tell the crust was freshly made and it was soft/chewy. Even the charcuterie board we ordered was well worth the price- not only did it have more than enough food (we couldn't finish it) but everything was full size; the grapes were still attached to the stalk and the meat slices were the original size that you would buy in the supermarket. We would definitely come back.

Dietary restrictions: GF pizza and charcuterie are celiac friendly.

For my birthday, my friends and I decided to go here after Smorgasburg for some drinks. We had a party of 11 people so it was a bit of a stretch but they were SO ACCOMMODATING and even set us up along with windows in their back room so we could have a bit of privacy for the large group. Servers were timely and the drinks were amazing. Even though we were full from Smorgasburg, the menu actually looked so good we ordered food. Honestly 10/10 recommend the truffle mac & cheese and the drink options are top tier. When we got ready to head out, the owner even came over and introduced himself and thanked us for coming. HIGHLY recommend :)
