So many options! This was the perfect place t bring our toddler who likes to try one of everything. We also learned they had a work from Skal option when you spend at least $17 which is super easy if you work all day. The vibe was great and everyone who worked there felt like family. The banana bread French toast was to die!

This is my favorite cafe in Bedstuy. Such a lovely mission, beautiful people making really intentional tasty food, in a beautiful space. My only wish is for them to be open more often!

Good coffee, a bit pricey and they don't wear masks. But otherwise a cozy spot to hang out and chat.

Skal is amazing. The people are so friendly and welcoming, the space is simple and thoughtfully comfortable, and there are a variety of food and drink options. Most of all it just felt very homey. Would highly recommend!

This place is very nice. It's been on my boyfriend's list for awhile now. The banana bread French toast was to die for. I still think about it everyday. The owner is very nice. She came up to us while we were dining and made sure we didn't feel pressured to leave once we finished our meals, as a lot of places do make you feel like you need to leave right away. She made us feel welcomed. The coffee was great! The staff overall was very nice, they helped us make decisions as we were very indecisive about what we wanted. Didn't rush us while we were ordering. The food came out pretty quickly. AND I could've fallen in love with the place based on the decor alone. It's very cozy. And just really well decorated.

Why would anyone open a business in Bed-Stuy and allow their staff to treat customers with racism/disrespect? Went there with a friend to get coffee/tea and brunch and we rec'd horrible service - no eye contact, one word answers to our questions, we were told there was no tea available(?) and only black coffee(??), no sugar or sweetener or ice or any kind of milk, no way to customize our coffee. Strange. It seemed like the guy behind the counter just did not want to take our order. He kept busy rearranging things behind the counter. When we asked how much the coffees would be he said $5.50 each. For coffee we can't even get milk and sugar in? The prices on the website are lower than that and there is a selection of coffees listed there too, as well as "artisan tea" (I guess the "artisan" was off that day?) We left and ate elsewhere. There was a very weird passive-aggressive maybe-racist? (my friend said it was def racism) vibe to the whole encounter. We were clearly not welcome and you know what? That's fine because we are never coming back. I can get coffee (or tea) the way I like it at any bodega for far less money and without being treated like s**t. Would give negative five stars if I could.

DRINKS: I got the matcha latte which was great! Sweet without overdoing it. TREATS: There's a variety of options in glass cases. The chocolate chip cookie was so good! OWNER: The owner was there when we went and after chatting a bit, he seemed like a really great person! Amazing energy between him and rest of staff. He even made sure to take care of us when we just missed the kitchen closing. VIBES: The cutest interior space with seating and wifi. They have music on Wednesday afternoons, so this gives the full social cafe vibe! There's even outside seating in the front with a bleacher style bench covered with pillows and blankets for comfort. TIP: The food looked amazing, but the kitchen closes after a certain time (sorry forgot to check what time). You'll be okay if you get there breakfast/brunch hours. PERKS: Local and Black-owned!

Haven't been to Skal in a few years but wanted to check out the "work from skal" option where you have to spend a minimum of $17. The build-a- brunch helps you get to the $17 easy. I ordered the summer Perdido banana bread French toast with dulce de Leche, herbs and fruits. Parmesan grits with shrimp and scrambled eggs. Each item was $5.66. I also ordered drip coffee for $4. Overall I was pleased with the meal. I wish we got more than 2 shrimp for the amount grits. I also thought that $4 is a lot for regular drip coffee.

I ordered a latte and the barista made it with oat milk without asking me. She said they are out of whole milk when i realized later. This was towards the end of the day, so i kind of get it. But also i don't think a café can run out of milk. If they do, they have to warn you before charging 5 bucks for a latte. Chocolate chip cookies tasted like a beginner baker's attempt for a mediocre cookie...

Stumbled across this gem. The staff spreads love, the Brooklyn way! It’s cozy, beautifully lit and the food is amazing. Will be back.

I had an amazing dining experience at Skal! The space is amazing and so beautifully put together. The staff is extremely welcoming and kind. The food was phenomenal and the vibe is super chill and feels like home. I created a brunch spread using their pick 3 option and had the sautéed greens with garlic, banana bread French toast with dulce de lèche sauce and Colombian chorizo. My husband had the Colombian breakfast and we split the oxtail and grits. Everything was so delicious. This is my new favorite neighborhood brunch spot! Highly recommend visiting.

Came here for a friend's birthday party last weekend. This place is all around good vibes, delicious food, and a staff that is so accommodating and gracious. I highly recommend the empanadas and grits with oxtail.
