get a few apps to split and then share 1-2 plates depending on size - lamb shank is among the best I’ve had. date salad, zucchini, eggplant dip were perfect. don’t sleep on the rose cake!

This spot understands exactly what makes food craveable. Workers provide pleasant service in a welcoming environment for families. Everything I've ordered here has been exceptional. Sofreh is undeniably outstanding. The workers demonstrate outstanding attentiveness with genuine warmth.

My partner and I had a wonderful date night at Sofreh. We got there right when it opened because we didn’t have a reservation. We sat at the bar and had good service the entire time. The sour cherry cooler was delicious and a good option if you’re not drinking alcohol. All the food was good but the cauliflower and the watermelon feta salad were sooo delicious and definitely our favorites. The atmosphere was nice and I thought the projector in the downstairs bathroom was cool. Definitely will be back!

One of the few Persian restaurant and it happened to have a Michelin star.

Highly recommend making reservations a couple days in advance to get a good time. We went at 8pm, which was nice vibe. Service was great and dishes were nicely spaced out. We had the eggplant & whey dip, cauliflower, and ribeye between the two of us which was the perfect amount. Each dish's flavor was unique and delicious. The ribeye was the highlight as it was cooked a medium/medium-rare just the way we love it! Great spot for a date night, special occasion, or just treating yourself.

this place has been on my list since october and i finally got to try it! i’ve made a cancelled quite a few reservations and finally at the last minute yesterday we decided we wanted to go out to eat and a res was available! i had wanted to try stuff that was on the winter menu so when we sat down and i realized we missed it by a week i was pretty bummed but our server guided us through and didn’t make one bad recommendation. we started with the roasted carrots and cauliflower. we liked the yogurt/chili sauce that came with the cauliflower more than the yogurt under the carrots but we liked the carrots more than the cauliflower so we didn’t end up choosing a favorite. for entrees we got the chicken and the smoked eggplant. the smoked eggplant (as suggested by the name) is extremely smokey so if you don’t like that flavor skip it. it’s a small plate but the flavors are so rich that it’s filling enough. the egg also adds a nice depth and helps cut the smokiness a bit. the sauce on the chicken is wonderful, it’s sweet but not dessert sweet. the chicken was the juiciest we’ve ever had. there are also almond that add a crunch and pomegranates that give a tang. i hate paying for bread but the bread is a must, it comes with the smoked eggplant so if you get that it’s a nice bonus, the service wonderful and the atmosphere is also very pretty. can’t wait to go back and i definitely understand why they made the nyt top 100 list

We’ve been to Sofreh twice, and both times were great experiences overall. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The portions aren’t very large, so I’d recommend ordering an appetizer to start.

That said, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Both times we visited, we felt a bit rushed, which was disappointing. While it’s understandable given that it’s a small and very popular spot in New York, this isn’t the kind of place you’d expect to feel hurried—it’s a restaurant where you’d like to take your time, enjoy the food, and chat with friends.

Also, a heads-up if you’re ordering the soup—it was served extremely hot. Unfortunately, I burned my tongue, and it took a couple of days to heal. Food served at that temperature should either be cooled slightly or come with a warning.

Overall, it’s a good restaurant worth trying, especially for the quality of the dishes. Just go in knowing it’s a bustling spot with some quirks!

Service was amazing. All of the employees are great! However, ownership/ management is the worst! They are unkind people and disrespectful to staff - made us feel uncomfortable. Cheers regardless

Lack of parking lot, We had the terrible experience with the manager, they had no respect for their customers , I think the most important thing for a restaurant like this is how they train their employees to speak and act professional to the clients who thought they’re going to experience a good food in a good environment with polite staff ( wich was quite the opposite)

Really really good food. It’s spendy but you can tell they use really fresh ingredients and the saffron they use is really good. Super tasty
