Truly amazing food. We had to get some vegan food while in the city and so happy we chose Starving Vegan. Macaroni salad was probably the best I've ever had and the lemon blueberry cake was delicious. I so appreciate vegan options, let alone ones full of flavor!! I wish I lived closer, I'd be in every day.

This is my first time making a review for Starving Restaurant but I had to make a review because I experienced a bad reaction with eating takeout from this restaurant on Friday September 5, 2025. I brought many times from Starving Vegan and I always buy the same food lo mein and citrus chick’n with quinoa and ital vegetables and a piece vegan blueberry lemon cake . But with this order the beans smelled bad and spoiled. The lo mein was not great. The beans was so bad it messed my stomach. I had to throw the food entire food out. This was a waste of my money. Also, the cake tasted soggy buttery and not fresh. I don’t think I will be buying from Starving Vegan again.

I used to love this place and ordered frequently until tonight. There was a dead roach in the nuggets I ordered. I ordered a bunch of food and feel sick at the thought of eating it now. I’m so disappointed. Luckily I got a refund. There is no reason for something like this to happen. And they’re not listed on the nyc health inspection/rating site for some reason. Hope this place steps up its standards. Eat here at your own risk I guess.

Medium was supposed to come with 3 sides per the menu and I assumed the chicken would be some type of protein like other vegan/ vegetarian restaurants (I’ve been vegan for 6yrs). I asked what was my other 2 options for sides and was told it only comes with rice and side of broccoli. I pointed out what it said on the menu and was told again that it comes with one side of broccoli and one protein.
When I got my plate it was deep fried oily cauliflower with broccoli separate. Got nauseous 5min after eating and couldn’t finish. That was $18 not worth it to me. I also wouldn’t consider deep fried cauliflower protein. Rice was good tho.

Playing extremely loud TikTok compilations on the TV, Dudes at the counter are weird and off putting, they charge you for water, and the ambiance of the restaurant is horrible. Definitely just a takeout place
