Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The food did not meet expectations, especially considering the high prices. The presentation and execution felt unprofessional, and the overall quality didn’t justify the cost.
It also gave the impression that the focus was more on avoiding tips rather than providing genuine hospitality.
I gave it a try once, but I wouldn’t return.

Their WiFi is down and even though I counted 6 tables open. They couldn’t seat anyone cause they could figure out how to waitlist with their eyes???? Whatever system they operate in leads everyone to be useless

Expensive but pretty good value for their lunch special, especially once you factor in that gratuity is included.

One note, they don’t seat you until your party arrives.

Best sushi/experience in the city- worth every penny and the rice makes me want to cry how good it is, I just wish they served sides of sushi rice lol but the consistency of how good this place is INSANE!! I probably eat here 3 times a month because you can’t top it for the price and quality. Thank you sugar fish for existing

We arrived for dinner and were seated right away. The food was excellent. It was high quality, fresh, and had many unique flavors. Definitely recommend this restaurant! We also got street parking right across from the restaurant and it was very convenient.

the food here was good but service was not very friendly and very slow - probably won’t be going back in person anytime soon

Don’t go. Food was decent but nothing special for the price, and service was maybe the worst I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant. Wait staff does not care about anything or anyone. Repeatedly forgot to bring drinks, forgot to fill water, etc.

Let me start by saying that I’ve been a loyal Sugarfish customer for years, from the original Culver City location to Beverly Hills and eventually here in NYC. I’ve truly loved this restaurant for a long time. But after my most recent visit, I won’t be returning.

My date became sick shortly after our meal, and unfortunately, it wasn’t surprising given the overall experience. From the very beginning, something felt off. The edamame arrived cold, wet, poorly washed (with visible dirt coming off the shells), and smelling strongly of rotten fish (pretty disgusting tbh). The fish throughout the meal was slimy and tashed unfresh, the flavors were dull, and the rice was dry, crumbly, and oddly stale, falling apart every time we picked up a piece of nigiri. It's literally supposed to be just fish and rice, and both fell short.

We paid $46 for a bottle of sake that wasn’t even properly chilled, and the service only made things worse. When a customer at a neighboring table broke a glass, several shards landed on my bag. Worried about transferring glass to my clothes or skin, I repeatedly asked for anything - a towel, a napkin, a cloth, a broom, even a wet wipe- so I could safely clean it. No one responded. Not a single staff member made the slightest effort to help.

For a place I once associated with quality, consistency, and care, this was an incredibly disappointing and frankly alarming experience. Truly shameful.

Had me wait and wait and wait for my takeout order. Waited for 1 hour and 26 min. Meanwhile it was in the cupboard the whole time. Absolutely unacceptable. Will never eat at this location again. Gives the sugarfish brand a terrible name.

Hostess completely incompetent. Good was good but we had to wait 2hours even tho we asked for an honest estimate. Every time we asked when the table would be ready they told us it would just be a few more minutes. Worst sugarfish location
