I’m so picky about sushi and NYC does not have good affordable places but Sumi is my absolute favorite in Brooklyn. There’s only one other place in Queens I like and they compete with each other for the best. The fish is always fresh and the salad greens are always crisp.
I was ordering online from my place of work, I had paid over the phone. The lady who was on the phone said she did not receive a payment, I looked and saw a large payment was taken. I had sufficient funds and she was stating that the payment was insufficient. I checked once again and saw the payment was cleared and confirmed. I spoke to the lady and told her the payment was taken. It was a large order and she was insisting I pay again after already paying. She began to get loud and scream on the phone in another language to someone else. A man comes on the phone reaffirming what she said. I respectfully told him that they payment was taken and that I have proof. He began to get aggressive , stating "it's just business", and " we are not trying to steal your money". I told him that I never stated that and I just want my food. He was being very rude and loud, to the point my coworker took the phone and told him that we are ordering for our coworkers, and we shouldn't be treated in that way. They kept insisting on a payment so my coworker paid once again.
- All that to say, that we as customers deserve respect. We are bringing business here and no one should be yelling at anyone. I work in healthcare, so I understand the frustrations. Obviously there was an error with their system or maybe even my bank, but instead of being professional and understanding, they became agitated and irate. - 0/10; Would NEVER recommend.

I just made the mistake of accidentally ordering from a nearby spot instead of Sumi… and I could tell the difference right away. SUMI IS THE BEST. The fish is high quality and fresh- even the rice tastes better. The lunch special is my favorite! (my disappointing mistake today- never again!) Sumi forever!

My experience was amazing. Kevin was very hands on with the service he rendered. He made sure that we were very comfortable and he was able to make exactly what we need. Employees are very rude. My card was used fraudulently at this store. I called and told them a purchase was made and I’d like to know who. I was told he could not tell me because they have no access to credit card records and they don’t ask for id when placing orders. I told him I had my card on me so someone would have to have typed the numbers . Before I could finish speaking he hung up. Seems as though maybe the worker used my card. Who knows. Very rude. Will be contacting back and filing police report.
