I’ve enjoyed each of my trips of Sunrise/Sunset— I’m never disappointed by the food or pastries and I love the bustling vibe, watching it switch to a cool wine bar in the evening. The screening of “The Holdovers” made for a lovely date night! The staffing setup is confusing to me, however. I work retail (very different ballgame but still customer service), so I can understand being understaffed at certain points in the day. But each time I come, there is usually only one employee responsible for taking orders, making espresso drinks, among others tasks— the whole nine yards. It makes the process unnecessarily lengthy, sometimes taking as long as 20 minutes from walking through the door just to get to the front of the line. It seems like there could be a more efficient way to do this because the coffee is good, but almost certainly not worth such a wait.

Firstly, the food was excellent. I got the sunrise papas, and my friends got the BLT and sunrise sandwich. The service was poor. The person at the ordering counter was unnecessarily rude and passive aggressive to us. We ordered takeout and had ordered while in transit to the restaurant, so we arrived before the pick-up time. And while it’s fair to expect it to not be ready given we were early, every establishment is different and I’ve been to many that have it ready before the estimated time. So when we got to the counter, we were simply 1) inquiring about the status of the order and 2) letting them put a name to a face so they could hand it off to us when it was ready. The person’s tone and delivery was uncalled for.Lastly, the atmosphere was fine. It was busy when we arrived and clear that people often go there to work. There were some really interesting and captivating pieces of art around the restaurant

The food here is spectacular. The chai is excellent too. But don’t order a matcha latte. It’s culinary grade at best and not drinkable.

So I no longer live in Bushwick… I did from 2011 till 2020… I remember when this place open! It was an answered fair honestly. I was randomly thinking about them today, they survived the pandemic and still in business. Happy that they are! You can tell the barista treat coffee like an art, the taste, the actual latte art. Love this place! I crave their avocado toast, and lattes often! This brightens their day, that all the way across the country still thinks of them ♥️

This is a go to spot for me on a slow work day when I want the change of scenery. It's close to home, generally good vibes from the business and clientele, at least for me. It doesn't turn into a hectic performance spot or anything, it stays laid back, day into night.Coffee's not bad, this is Bushwick and there are more specialized/coffee snob spots...does the trick. Food is definitely better than your average Bushwick coffee shop. They have space and an actual kitchen for things, they got in here early on.The line does gets pretty long, 5-7 deep. There are alot of people that are in and out of here...but the owners have 2-3 folks working at all times of the day, and they are working...it's really just that busy, alot of condos have gone up in the past 10 years, and nobody has time to make their own coffee apparently, they can't be bothered to pick it up from the literal gazillion bodegas around here...but they're in enough of a rush to wait on this particular 10 deep line? Make it make sense lol, I'm sure the owners can't complain end of day. This spot is really designed for the work from home/day off crowd, glad it's here.P.S. - Someone mentioned Chez Alex...that place is good, but it's crammed in there and nowhere near Sunrise, other side of Broadway!

Sunrise/Sunset is a charming café in Bushwick with a fantastic atmosphere. Every visit guarantees cleanliness, friendly and accommodating service, and an excellent musical backdrop--I particularly enjoyed their recent choice, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill." While I'm not a coffee enthusiast, I've heard from friends that it's exceptional. However, I can attest to the quality of their food. The fact that they serve breakfast all day is a definite win for me. I've relished their delicious french toast and biscuits and gravy during evening visits. The BLT and sunset burgers, featuring a sourdough bun and provolone cheese, have become unexpected favorites. As the day progresses into the evening, the ambiance transforms into that of a bar, offering an equally delightful vibe. The only drawback is the potential for overcrowding, with limited seating even during off-peak times. While a testament to their quality and service, it can be a downer when all I crave is their fantastic biscuits and gravy.
