I love this place- I hope there is a way it can continue to operate- it's such a lovely dining experience!

Always a satisfying & delicious experience at Taiki! Very sorry to hear they are closing (

We got the 18 course $100 omakase. Sushi was very good. Some of it was excellent. The 4 other dishes that rounded out the meal were disappointing. 3 of the 4 were not very interesting, on flavor or presentation. The charred salad was good. All in all, if you stick to the sushi / sashimi - it's quite good.

Fantastic sushi with a true master behind the counter. The space is low-key. The food and service is exceptional.

I've always loved Taiki and have sent many others here who have become regular customers. Go, go!

The fish was fresh and sushi was well made. However, it is not a real omakase experience even if sitting at the bar. Rather than serving the sushi piece by piece, you get a plate of sushi at one time, which is disappointing. The service wasn't good enough. The only server that night was unfriendly and weird.

We love this restaurant. It serves sme of the best sushi in NYC- it's a legit Tokyo like experience. Top quality food with an unpretentious atmosphere. The team is great. It is family friend (there is a $!6 kids meal) and the place is so chill and relaxed. We noticed that a lot of people were ordering takeout and it looked good. We had dinner and drinks. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. This place is great and does not rush you. 10/10.

Went here on my birthday and sat at the sushi bar. There was a promotion for 20% off sushi and sashimi for anyone who sat at the bar and followed them on instagram. It was a lot of fun watching the chef/owner make our sushi. We got dinner and a show! He was very friendly too but wasn't interrupting our meal in any way. We got so much food and left satisfied and in a great mood.

This hidden gem has the freshest and best quality fish I have had anywhere in Brooklyn! If you love sashimi, this is an easy choice!

1st visited when it 1st opened, the food was okay but at the time nothing to rave about. Fast forward a couple of years and this place has really evolved to what I might consider the best sushi place in the neighborhood. We started with the miso cod, an octopus sashimi special and the edame; they were all amazing. The miso cod was buttery and melted in yr mouth; more delicate miso flavor than nobu's infamous version. For main, ordered the 12 piece sushi omakase. The fish was all super fresh; imported from Japan. The selection was not yr every day run; it included needle fish, grunt and fire squid. The scallops and uni were imported from Hokaido and were amazing; had to get an extra order of the uni. The service was great and friendly!

Sat down as table of three for my brother’s birthday and had an absolutely lovely meal. Unexpected highlight was the edamame appetizer, which was roasted to a light char with a garlic oil. The smoked clam soup was phenomenal as well. We followed up with the omakase sashimi and a handful of rolls. They had seven or eight sushi specials which were well- represented on the omakase and offered a nice departure from the usual options. The service was quick and the staff were warm and knowledgeable. We didn’t order alcohol, but the sake list looked decent as well. Would definitely return!

We made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for Valentine's Day. We arrived on time and there were still many open tables. The hostess (Josephine) leads us to a table directly next to the door. When I requested a table in the back (at least 3 open tables) she said in an extremely rude manner that she would not give me a table in the back and would only offer me the table next to the door. She further angrily stated that she has 64 reservations for that night. That's fine but if there are many open tables when a patron arrives they should be given the opportunity to have a table that is not next to the door where the cold air hit us every time the door opened. The reservation is for a certain time NOT for a specific table so why was I denied the table I requested when there were so many open tables. The waitress was great, the food was delicious and a good value for the price. Josephine needs to learn how to politely deal with patrons if she is to stay in the hospitality industry.

Very ambient and cozy, sushi was very authentic, however very few sushi roll choices and no spicy mayo was the only downer. Which makes sense if it's authentic. Overall a good experience.

Great authentic Japanese cuisine. Delicious bites of each type of sushi and sashimi. A must!

Myself and 2 friends had a reservation on a Friday at 8:15pm. We were the only table in the restaurant so there wasn't much of a vibe. Our server was friendly and gave good recommendations, but spent a lot of time chatting loudly with the chef at the counter. The food took awhile to come out considering we were the only customers. After our food was delivered, our server left the restaurant. Another server stepped in briefly but then went to the back of the kitchen to eat dinner and the chef followed so we were the only people in the front of house while we finished eating. The food tasted good and seemed good quality, but the sushi was falling apart. We were still hungry and would have ordered more but with no vibes, minimal attention from staff, and poor presentation, we decided to leave and go eat 2nd dinner across the street. Maybe it was just an off night, but this was my only experience and I don't plan on returning.
