Food here is incredible. Service and atmosphere are ok, though. I attended with a party of 7 others fairly early (around 4pm) and we were seated quickly. It seems the wait staff waits to be called over before taking any orders, which is different than what I expected, but not bad. The overall feel of the place is not fine dining, but certainly not Applebee's. It's a nice casual spot to get some really creatively prepared meals.

Don't make my mistake and order a bunch of appetizers. The entree portions are very generous!

Unbelievably good food. They don’t play about portions or authentic flavor as everything comes out generous and straight-up legit. Every bite felt balanced but still rich and bold. I only tried the Musakhan and the Chicken Kabob and I’m already plotting my return to eat through the whole menu. Absolute gem for Middle Eastern food. If you’re anywhere near the area, you need to pull up. And if you live in Bay Ridge and haven’t been yet… that’s basically haram.

Have come here many times over the years and have always enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. However, I think things have slipped at Tanoreen. I had made reservations days ahead of time. They seated me, as I waited for my friend 3 minutes away, at the least desirable table for 2 by the kitchen and bathrooms. There were at least 5 other clearly nicer tables. I ordered a drink as I waited, just trying to deal with it, but table was just not comfortable. Once my friend got there, I asked nicely if we could possibly be moved to a different table. They said okay, and gestured to another table. However they made no attempt to help us bring over the menus, drinks, coats, or to pull out a chair-nothing. We literally had to make 2 trips to get everything. (Mind you the restaurant was only about half full and there appeared to be at least 5 male servers/staff around all night, several of whom seemed to do little more than stand by the kitchen looking around). After we sat down, we waited at least 10 minutes and nobody came over to take my friend's drink order, or bring over a bread basket, or acknowledge us whatsoever. I had to wave my hand to get someone's attention. At the time I did this there at least 3 men standing there in the corner doing nothing, ignoring our table. Also, the waiter didn't make any mention of the specials, which were on a separate menu-not a big deal but I think in the past the specials were explained by the waiter. Also, in the past sometimes someone would come over to the table-the owner I think?-and greet us and say a few words. I have no idea if she still does this or even if she's even still owner of the restaurant, and I do realize this can't happen every night, but it was a nice touch that was missed. After ordering, service was fine, the waiter polite and attentive, food good. I'll be back because the food is always good, but I hope next time the level of service is higher.

Wonderful flavors and kind service. One of my favorites. A treat every time. Their chicken kebab sandwich is one of the best I've had yet, so well balanced.

A wonderful mediterranean restaurant offering family style set meals including a variety of mezzes and your protein of choice. Go with a group to sample different entrees. The atmosphere is relaxed, quiet and conducive to conversation.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn, in NYC, and possibly anywhere in the world. Go here with a group and order just about anything, it's outstanding. The Cauliflower appetizer, the dips, the meat dishes, literally everything is spectacular. I have been at least 3 times and will go back. This place is truly something special.

I never leave reviews because I have worked in restaurants for 15 years and know the hard work it takes run them—I walked in on New Year’s Eve not knowing about this place actually and just wanting to grab dinner somewhere for the holiday—okay I could leave 1 star for the server who took care of us but I’ll leave 2 because the runners and bussers where great—we asked about the plates and how they were served. Very minimally explained by our server that when we got our food it was too much and ended up taking most of it home. The food tasted okay for the prices they charge. I wouldn’t come again. When I complained at the end of the night— I told the manager I was tipping on the actual amount which was 130–after tax and a credit card fee it turned out to be 147–because yes it is a servers job to explain how things are served. The manager was rude enough to tell me “the portions are on the menu” . Which is why I am also leaving a review. I wasn’t asking for a discount. Just a little consideration and humility—but I guess this place doesn’t know what those things are.

I fell in love with this place 7 years ago. I’ve been wanting to come back since forever, but then COVID happened and I had newborns. Life takes a different approach!
Went back recently. Boy were things changed..
Portion sizes are half what they used to be. Prices are doubled. Staff isn’t welcoming—just comes when you flag them. Back then it was hard to get a table. Now, it was 70% full on a busy weekend.

Taste is still good. But I left satiated, vs stuffed and happy. That’s with an app and main course..

Early 6pm dinner and only 3 other tables occupied. Inattentive, but friendly staff, left quite an impression. It was the bartender that noticed us waiting and signaled the staff. Mezcal was great and Shepard beer was good too. Warm Nusakhan was tasty. Baked kibbie was simple. Chicken curry decent giant dish. Flavors were 3 out of 5. Will we return? No unfortunately. Maybe we'll try their sister location.

Our experience at Tanoreen was the best part of visiting New York! The food was absolutely delicious and felt like we were back home eating family cooking. The staff were all so accommodating and kind, we couldn’t have asked for better people. The floor manager stopped by and was so helpful in answering any questions we had. All in all a place that everyone has to visit at least once and it’ll have them coming back for more!

You want to experience what authors try to capture on the page when describing a meal that feeds the soul? This is the place. On a cold winter night in December 2025, a group of Manhattan gals trekked to Tanoreen anticipating a nice night out. It was life changing for me. From cocktails to knafeh, this place served from top to bottom. Do you love colorful and creative combinations of food and flavors? Check! Zaatar Mezcal Margarita? What!? Amazing. The lamb shank fell off the bone. The fatoush was perfect. We tried so many appetizers and mains and everything was bursting with flavor and texture. Was retelling the story to my husband and told him that I believe that was one of the most perfect dinners of my life. You really feel the love, knowledge, care of keeping the Palestinian food and tradition alive through the hands of mother Rawia & daughter Jumana and their entire team. Cannot wait to return.

Standouts: everything on the menu.
Cost: beyond reasonable for the quality
