A cute concept and I was looking forward to going here but it was a ln unwelcoming experience. The place is dirty and there was no one there. We stood at the counter looking at the menu for a few minutes but no one came out. As we left, one of the two guys sitting at a table said have a nice day…so I think he worked there…but never said anything while we were at the counter. It was such an awkward and uncomfortable experience. The place doesn’t look well kept unfortunately. There’s so much potential…

Had a great latte the first time I came. Second time it was the lightest matcha I’d ever gotten in my life and they didn’t have lids which I didn’t mind but once I got a cup of milk with a splash of matcha I was annoyed

as of june 2025 they are in the process of changing their menu so no vegan options are available right now. i am sad as their vegan bacon egg and cheese on ciabatta was incredible.

We wanted to dine somewhere to go after my toddler’s dance recital nearby. We looked up a few spots close to LIU and thought the Textbook Cafe would work for us. We looked at the online menu to be sure our youngest (4) and oldest (83) family member could find something to enjoy. We were shocked to find that there is basically no food being served, the bathroom is filthy and the mood depressed. We learned that the online menu hasn’t been updated and so this is a common issue for people coming by the cafe hoping for the fries, sandwiches and tons of other items listed online. It was a rainy day and we were with two elderly people so we drank tea because no one had the stamina to leave. I’m leaving a review so people know there’s basically no food just pasties and coffee about maybe two sandwiches, both with meat so the vegetarian in the group couldn’t eat the sandwich she had planned on. Wow!
I really like this place because they have great speciality lattes, but wish it was more consistent! It really depends on who’s behind the counter — last week I tried the istanbloom orange latte and it was delicious. The person (I wish I got her name) put enough ice, added fresh orange zest on top, and was friendly. I’ve gotten it twice since then with different people and it was alright, tasted a little watered down and no fresh orange zest.
One side note — they don’t have decaf espresso!
Such small variations between both visits but resulted in different experiences.

Textbook Bakery has the most delicious vegan cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had—soft, gooey, and packed with flavor! Their cookies are just as incredible. I stopped by during their vegan ice cream pop-up and got to try a variety of items from their menu—everything was spectacular. The staff are friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, and the owners are incredibly kind and clearly passionate about their craft. This place is an absolute gem for anyone who loves amazing vegan treats or non vegan too. 💬🩵

Literally the worst, disgusting breakfast sandwich. Unfort we got 2 which came out to $20 and had to throw both away after a few bites. Not sure if they were day old or what. Looks nothing like the photos. Literally nothing like any of them.
