I've been living in the neighborhood for 3 years and wanted to like the West. After going a few times, I decided to find other spots and didnt return for 2 years because the music is so loud & obnoxious, the fans are at full blast even when it's freezing, and the baristas were always the opposite of warm. Honestly it gave me anxiety. Then one Saturday, a few months ago, I needed a coffee quickly and the vibes happened to be amazing. The music was so good, not too loud, the barista who served me had a big smile on his face, and the temperature was perfect. I went back again on a weekday and the bad vibes were back. So, I decided to try a weekend once more and discovered that the vibe is a total 180 when one of baristas, Griffin, is there (he sets the playlist those days and his energy is contagious). I'd give 5 stars for Griffin and recommend going on weekends when he's there (the only time I go). Otherwise I give it a 3 because the coffee is good and strong.

Great spot! Sometimes the music is a bit much, but otherwise good vibes. Also a great place to study or work.

A classic Brooklyn bar with great cocktails, frozen drinks, and a simple-but-tasty sandwich menu.

I came here for the first time and was very disappointed. I walked 15 minutes in a storm to get here and politely asked the woman at the front if the bread could be sliced thinner. She said no, but more importantly, it was the way she said it—very dismissive—and she didn’t offer any alternatives or solutions. I ended up leaving the food at the counter and wasting my money. Not a great first experience 🥲

Honestly they are getting this because I walked out with someone else. I asked for what they were serving for drinks and they walked away. Later they placed something in front of me listing 3 drinks witch on their beer menu they had more to drink. But going to place an order and then refusing we walked out. Requesting to speak with the manager I was refused. If a bartender refuses service because he hasn't been tipped even though we weren't done with service then I'm pretty sure I can get better service at any bar that serves us.

I've only been to The West in the evenings when it is a bar. It's an interesting concept to have a bakery / cafe during the day and a bar at night. Great atmosphere and a cozy small bar in my opinion. Always a reliable pour of the Guinness and fun cocktails. Lovely outdoor seating in the back and they usually play sports games on the back projector so it's a great local spot for sure.

Perfect for every time of day. Cheapest good quality coffee and fairest priced drinks in the borough! Great patio out back, open late!

If you’re looking to work from home, this is not the place to go unless you can sit outside. The music is very loud and fills the whole room. I didn’t wanna be a Karen and ask them to turn it down so just letting others know what to expect if looking for somewhere to work.
