One of our favourite local spots for breakfast/brunch. Lots of different drinks to try (with different specials each season) and consistently good food, including a few gluten-free options. My husband loves the burger too (and he is fussy about burgers!)

I have been coming to Tikal Cafe for years, and will not be back after today. Today is my birthday, and I went to the cafe this morning just to quickly have their matcha waffles that I ordered and liked once before as dine-in. No drink and no fuss whatsoever- I wasn't planning anything special to celebrate, and just wanted to sit for a minute and eat before getting to work. Two minutes after I order my food, their front door that is ENTIRELY made of glass unlatches in the server/baristas hands. I immediately ran over to make sure she wasn't hurt and tried to stabilize the door until some help arrived, so that their front door wouldn't crash and shatter on the ground. This isn't a big deal to me, I am always happy to help. I helped lean the door against a heavy keg outside so that the server could make a call and do whatever else she needed to do. I waited outside for help to arrive in case the glass door started to slip, and did have to jump up to catch the door multiple times because of the wind outside pushing the door forward, and eventually just stood holding the door until the owner could get there. The owner arrived and said he had it, no thank you or anything, but it's stressful so that was okay and I understood. Over 30 minutes after I ordered (first order of the day, only one after mine), I still did not receive my food. By the time the person who ordered several minutes after me was given their food first, I gave up on my birthday breakfast, and asked to have my waffles packed to go when they were ready, so I could get to my work on time. I cannot express how disappointed I was to open my to-go box and see that they (the owner) only gave me the smallest amount humanly possible of both the whipped cream and strawberry cream after I personally saved them hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars saving their door without as much of a thank you. The waffles also tasted off, but I still would have come back the very next day if someone would have just communicated the long wait so I would know, asked if I wanted a refund, OR not have taken my order in the first place if there was no one to make it when I ordered it. I will not be back.
Last week I went to buy two large lattes and two almond croissants, I really like this cafeteria, the coffee is delicious and the food as well, but I have never had an unpleasant moment with any employee of this cafeteria, she gave me the small glass and said that if I wanted a large latte I had to ask for an extra large latte, and they had never done this to me in this cafeteria, they had always served me well and they always gave me exactly what I asked for, apart from everything the coffee was poorly made and when I opened it it was too greasy, even though it was regular milk my latte seemed like it had little yellow fat balls in it, what a shame because something like that had never happened to me đ

5/5 for offering straws, clear to go cups and not shaking the iced lattes before giving it to you. Service dogs are welcome, and there is cute (but windy) outdoor seating.

My favorite place for Sunday brunch or a quick grab and go latte with a sweet treat. Teresa and her team are so warm and are the reason I keep coming back. Tikal is such a gem; with new weekly specials, affordable and iconic cocktails, and the perfect spot for organic and health forward ingredients.

This place is overpriced. They only carry one size. $7.89 after tax for a medium cold brew. I asked for light ice, the server said âthis is light iceâ, I asked nicely for less ice and she brings back a drink that tasted like all cream and milk. Definitely my last visit.

Oh boy. This review got saved by how good the food was. Friendly service in a somewhat small restaurant. Service was VERY slow though. Donât come here in a rush or even in a group. Disorganized as far as orders and food coming out. I watched my plate be put on someone elseâs table (mind you I was sitting and ordered first and they were about to be served before me). My avocado toast with eggs benedict was delicious. I noticed I wasnât the only person who cleaned my plate so I suppose most dishes here are good. I didnât love my smoothie, but the cost of everything was honestly reasonable so Iâm not too upset.

I absolutely love Tikal! The food, the people and the atmosphere is incredible. Even when all I get is coffee, itâs always a good vibe. Itâs pet friendly too, so I often go in with my dog.

I ordered a coffee and it was full of coffee grounds at the bottom. I also ordered a pastry and they completely forgot about it. Got luck trying to get a correct order here

This place charges premium prices for bargain-bin service. The cashiers always look lost, like theyâre solving a math equation instead of taking an order. Multitasking? Doesnât exist. Remembering what you asked for? Good luck.
It took 10 minutes to get a simple black coffeeâwere they harvesting the beans in the back? For what they charge, youâd think theyâd at least know whatâs going on. Save your money and go somewhere that serves coffee and competence.
