Tip Top is a staple in the community that's been running at least 50yrs. With all of the obvious changes in the neighborhood, stepping inside takes you back to the warmth of your grandmother's basement. The space is a time capsule of sorts.
The bar is operated by 3 incredible women and on occasion they enlist the help of their other family members and their beloved bartender Rudee. Everyone in this bar has a lot to say and a lot of wisdom to share. You don't come here for fancy cocktails and wines, you come here because the drinks are strong, affordable, and straight no chaser. They have a modern jukebox that has almost any and every song you could think of, and when they aren't using the jukebox it's because there's a group hosting an event and they have their own djs show up.
Every month they have events ranging from comedy shows, to birthday parties, and even their latest collaboration with Sterling Place Productions; a backyard night market and after party. Which left vendors satisfied, guests joyful and fed, and the bar very happy.

I visited Tip Top this weekend on my mini vacay to Brooklyn NY from DC and I love this bar. The Rum Punch was 10/10. It’s not too sweet but it is delicious and strong. What I enjoyed most was the service and the people giving the service. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming even the other guest. Linda who was bartending that night was so nice. Unfortunately I have forgotten the other woman’s name but I think she makes the Jell-O shots. They were good and not watery. She was awesome as well. Me and my friend really enjoyed the people, atmosphere, conversations and of course the drinks. I enjoyed myself so much I came back before I left to have another Rum Punch. Next time I visit I will come hungry because I could tell by they ladies who work there the food will be good and made with love
Great bar, no notes
This is a nice place and the fried fish is the best I've tasted in town and the drinks are reasonable price
Restaurantji Recommends
Nice little place
There's been a great level of support for our monthly comedy show here
My friends had a few parties here. Really nice people. It’s a vibe, you just have to set the tone.
And the backspace is really huge

Remember when Barack Obama got elected? Before we realised he was a neoliberal drone striking shill of the establishment, we had hope. We thought the forever wars would end, beers were five dollars, and its cash only. This place takes me back to that time. My dog was young, I would walk her through tompkins without a leash. Winters were colder, snow days were called by bloomberg twice a year. What a time to be a tween. Great bar.
Great
