Although I LOVE Villabate Alba, and so does my family - I HIGHLY suggest an attitude adjustment for some of its employees. Granted, we did walk in five minutes before they were closing on New Year’s Eve, but it still shouldn’t change how a customer is treated. Every time you come in there, you’re rushed, and treated as if you’re an issue. I had the unpleasant interaction with Rosa this evening, which instantly reminded me of the last time I was here and she served us then as well. It’s been a year since I’ve been back to Brooklyn and the first thing I remember was her, and her nasty attitude. Asking me “what else,” over and over does not change the fact that I still need a minute to finish choosing what I want. Clacking your acrylics annoyingly against the glass also will not change the pace in which I am ordering. If this is how I was treated, I feel bad for the elderly and or disabled that are served by her. I hate to leave such a bad review because I love this establishment, but she needs a serious attitude adjustment if she’s going to represent one of the most popular and reputable bakeries in Brooklyn. Do better, Rosa.
Villa Bate is really the only GREAT pastry shop left- its simply excellent 100% of the time. My only gripe is the long lines!
So fresh and well made with care!
Very efficient and delicious desserts. Traveled almost 3 hours roundtrip for authentic Sicilian dessert and the cannoli was almost as good as at the convent in Palermo!
So many high-quality delicious 😋. Friendly staff! Recommend!
The tray of cookies that was purchased for our Christmas gathering is very impressive however every cookie although designed beautifully all tasted with an over abundance of almond extract. Please use different extracts for different cookies. The almond flavoring and smell is overwhelming! Some butter cookies only need vanilla.
Incredible Italian bread, cannolis, and chocolate mousse.
got to the bakery at 7:30 and the owner would not let us in to buy a few cookies. We drove 45 minutes to the bakery and their website said they closed at 8. If they close at 7:30 they need to inform people on their website. Very disappointing experience and my family will not be returning.
Prepare yourself for a visit to the wonderland of bakeries
as this place is nothing short of amazing when it comes to Italian pastries, cookies & delights it's like walking into a Christmas bakery with all the colorful treats to choose from and did I mention gelato! An assorted array of Italian ice cream...yum!
There's more! Fresh bread is made there along with expresso and other coffee beverages. If you haven't had the Vilabate Alba dessert shop experience don't hesitate and put them on your list of places to visit for all of your sweet & delectable needs.
I am not a frequent customer but I always get a price shock everytime time I come here. Its not just the inflation. They are always more expensive than everybody else.

This bakery is a Brooklyn staple and is another one that you have to try once. It is an old school spot but is expensive. The cookie tray I got was $50. Insane but the cookies were good. The sfiogtalle is always a favorite of mine and they do a good job here. It has a crunch and flakiness that you can hear all the way from NJ. They have all sorts of stuff in here too. The freshly baked breads were something I would get next time.
Been coming here for almost 30 years because its an incredible bakery. Pastries and cakes are excellent. Everything is fresh from my experience.
It can get difficult to shop here during Christmas and Easter and even on an average Sunday. The shop is pretty small and there is nowhere to sit down to eat which would be a great addition. Parking can also be difficult at times.
As others have stated, nothing is priced and there is no description of what each pastry is so that aspect of the shopping experience can be frustrating. They should consider placing small labels over the pastries like they have over in their ice cream section.
Some people here have complained about freshness… I have never had an issue with this at Villabate… then again, when we do go here to order cake, we customize it so…
Lastly, their ice cream is also very good. Nothing is overly sweet.
***My biggest “gripe” (and I know this sounds petty) is that the new cones they use are too thin and tall. The ice cream has nowhere to go so it drips down the sides and gets quite messy. Also, because the cone is so thin, no ice cream gets to the bottom so you’re left eating a dry waffle cone… please go back to the other cones you had!***
One final note: I have to admit, there is a sense of arrogance from the staff at times. Not sure if its because the place gets so busy at times and maybe stress levels go up?
I honestly think, if Villabate were a bit larger in size and had seating, it could be a really amazing hotspot for dessert, dates, or just a mid afternoon break. And a bit more enjoyable to shop there.
Need a part time job just to pay for my addiction to this place. Awesome staff. Fresh food.
Very clear
Wow, Amazing! Best cannoli ever! A little something for everyone. Marzipan is a work of art along with with many baked goods.. Great cookies too! Worth the travel for some real good Quality Bakery Goods! (No sense posting pictures, what you see on line is what you get)
