It's bigger than it looks inside and the food is amazing and not that expensive. Highly recommend Gyu Maki and pork belly skewers.

Do not get the chef's choice skewers. They bring you random vegetable skewers that aren't on the menu and they don't put any seasoning or sauce on the chef's choice. The skewers all tasted like charcoal and there was barely any meat. I ordered a Tuna bowl as I was still hungry and this also had no sauce or seasoning and the Tuna tasted like gloves and dish soap. First time in a long time that I couldn't even finish anything I was served because the tastes were so off-putting.

Industry City in Brooklyn ?. We went to look at furniture and ended up finding a great sushi ? restaurant. It was bumping, people at the counter, tables packed- we were able to grab a spot at the bar ? which was quiet and perfect. They had all the favorites: miso soup, salmon teriyaki, freshest of seafood ? and saki flights.

Wakuwaku purports itself as a izakaya type restaurant that has many differing options. There were many options which I considered for lunch such as a sashimi bowl, ribeye teriyaki bowl, bento lunch sets, miso black cod bento. I opted for two yakitori (Japanese skewers), and a nabeyaki udon on this cold day. I ordered a gyu (beef), and tsukune (chicken meatball) skewers - the beef was a bit dry, chicken meatball was pleasantly moist and flavorful. The nabeyaki udon was served inside of a scalding hot clay pot with a cover on, upon arrival the server lifts the cover to reveal the shrimp tempura atop the dish. The shrimp tempura was virtually inedible, the fried batter was all soggy and broke off with a soft touch and the shrimp was overcooked. The egg which was dropped in last prior to serving was overdone and had a hard boiled consistency. The udon noodles were hard and stiff and not chewy at all. All in all a disappointment. I don't know if I'd go for another meal at this restaurant.

My family and I came here on our first visit to industry city. It was a cold day, and we were hoping for some hot food to warm us up. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow. It was clearly not a good sign that we were not only waiting for a table, but waiting for someone to come over to seat us (as per the sign) for a little over 8 minutes. The restaurant wasn't full either, but given that it was a weekend afternoon, perhaps they were short staffed. We wanted to order as soon as we sat down, given we'd had time to look at the menu while waiting in the front. Second bad sign, the first few things we wanted to order (notably, the pork belly & short ribs) they said they had no more of. I almost wish we were told this before even being seated. We quickly scan the menu to see what else to order, but we were now about 20 mins in, and haven't put our order in yet. A few things, our server had to run back to the kitchen mid-order to check if they still had stock. We settled on a cold ramen bowl, some yakitori, and a Waku waku Champon (a warm ramen soup dish with thin pork straps, seafood, veggies, and mushrooms). Our selections were okay, nothing to write home about. (Maybe by that time, I was slightly irritated and hungry.) The Yakitori was small for the price ($3-5 per bite-sized skewer), but that may be the cost of Izakayas these days. If you are watching your budget, be aware, the tab adds up quick.

Absolutely excellent experience. The chef brings some amazing flavors to the table and the service is top notch. Javier is very knowledgeable about the menu and has some great recommendations. Highly recommend. Great small plate sharing. Everyone I've brought here has been

Yakitori was cold, to be accurate, freezing cold. Ebi shrimp was undercooked. We had to leave halfway to find something else to eat simply because the food was not edible. The staff apologized but did not even offer a small discount for the inconvenience caused. Very disappointed.

Was walking around Japan Village in Industry City, and this was one of the more spacious options for lunch. Separated as it's own restaurant to the side, this place offers plenty of seating and an extensive menu. After taking a couple seats at the bar, ordered the Saison they had in bottle ($13.50) as well as a sake ($10.50). Saiaon is not bad, tart and not too sour. The sake tasted like lemon drop shot; not bad. For food, ordered the Takowasa ($5) as a starter - a mix of wasabi and diced octopus. I like the wasabi mixture yet the octopus had a very firm+frozen taste. Main entree is the Garlic Shrimp & Broccoli ($12) - a generous portion of shrimp and broccoli swimming in a garlic sauce. Again, the shrimp didn't taste very fresh; the overall taste in the sauce was good however. Service is up and down. We got seated immediately but our entrees came at different times. Fine if in a pinch in the area.

The Place is really cute vibe, the food tasted fresh the only thing that through it off was the customer service. It wasn’t so busy during my visit and the waiter was making us feel rushed mind you it was NOT busy at all I would have understood if it was a full house so there was no need to rush us. Maybe if his demeanor was a little less standoffish and if he would have been a little more friendly I would have left a 5 star review.

Pretty good Yakitori restaurant. Tasty but really fatty meat. The sasami-ume was probably the best. Had the sasami-ume chicken, pork, beef, duck, and mushroom yakitori. The duck was all fat, the beef were thick cuts, so super chewy. The un-filtered house sake was ok, but a little expensive. Actually overall the entire meal was quite expensive, esp for the portions, quality, ambience, and location. About $70 for 6 sticks of Yakitori and one 11oz sake. It was busy, and service was a little slow, but that wasn't an issue, they were all really nice servers.
