The story on the cover of the menu states that the owners were importing tuna from Indonesia then trade of tuna to the US was halted, but the couple retains special and unique permission from the governments to still import tuna for this restaurant. I had the tuna. It was average quality and affordable. From this point forward I’m not going to believe anything written down on anything anywhere

Very friendly service, delicious food (I got the Teriyaki salmon Bento box and a Creme Brulé Cheesecake, both of which were great), and fast service. Recommended!

The sushi here is so good! It doesn’t look like a “cool” sushi spot from the outside but do not let it fool you, the quality is absolutely amazing. Been in the neighborhood for many years. Don’t miss the Indonesian food here too! Been here for takeout and dine in many times and it does not miss!!

Just had an amazing Valentine's Day dinner here after finding Wasabi on google maps. The sushi is delicious but the real star for us was the Indonesian cuisine. The deep fried tempeh was served hot and fresh, and the Indonesian fried rice was very tasty. Our favorite was the Rendang Daging Padang, a tender and mouthwatering coconut braised beef dish.Chef Robby and his staff were very hospitable and we had lovely conversations about our shared Indonesian heritage while he educated us about Indonesian cuisine. He also generously made us and the other patrons celebrating Valentine's Day with them a delicious complimentary dessert souffle pancake. We will definitely be making Wasabi a regular spot when in Greenpoint.

Yes it’s primarily a sushi restaurant but we had amazing Indonesian food here on Valentine’s Day. Robby and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. My girlfriend has some Indonesian heritage like Robby and they went above and beyond to help us learn more about Indonesian cuisine. We really cherished the conversation and connection tonight. Robby was also kind enough to make us an amazing pancake soufflé dessert for free.Highly highly recommend the Rendang (incredibly flavorful slow cooked beef), Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and Tempeh. We also had the salmon avocado roll which was delicious.
