This corner spot has both a bar area, seating in the front and a back room that's perfect for corralling families on the weekend. I have been for brunch and definitely recommend trying a few things including the pretzel which IS the best pretzel in NYC as both NY Mag and NY Times have declared. Don't skip taking an apple strudel to go!
Note: They only accept cash or american express.

Werkstatt is a beloved neighborhood spot, offering a laid-back atmosphere with standout dishes like the Lamb Shank, Pretzel, and Pastrami Hash. A perfect weekend destination for regulars, it’s a great place to meet friends and enjoy top-notch service. The Roasted Chicken with fries and salad is a must-try if you’re looking to impress. Add a whiskey sour to make them extra happy. A true community favorite for over a decade!

Extremely disappointed with this once loved local restaurant.
I’ve been a fan of Werkstatt since it first opened but lately this neighborhood restaurant has become quite outrageous with its ridiculous policy of only taking reservations for parties of 6 or more. The last straw was my dining experience here today. We were a party of 4 but one individual was late and the owner/hostess refused to seat us. This seemed extremely illogical since we would require a table for 4 regardless of whether we were 3 or 4. Her comment that she “could turn a table in 15 minutes” was both outrageous and rude. Best of luck with your business but I’ll never eat here again.

Incredible meal! We came to Werkstatt for our 10 year wedding anniversary and had such a great time. Cold, crisp Kolsch with our roasted Brussels sprouts and pretzel, followed by another round of Kolsch with our chicken schnitzel and polish kielbasa with lots of tasty salads/sides.
Service was great. Great music, vibe. Everything. Our new favorite neighborhood restaurant!

Great place! The waitstaff are kind and professional. The food very delicious. The only downside was a send(or smt like send) inside mussels.

I love this place. A new friend on Pitch Social asked me to come here. The Brussels sprouts and hamburger deserves an award. Please accept Visa cards next time haha lol

We tried Werkstatt tonight and while we were not blown away by the food or service, it is a solid Austrian restaurant.
The staff is friendly and the atmosphere quite relaxed. We never felt rushed but did feel it would have been nice if we did not have to flag down a server to refill our water or for the check.
We ordered potato latkes that came with sour cream and apple sauce (Happy Hanukkah!). They tasted as latkes should taste. We then both had chicken cutlets which were tender but a bit bland. We don't eat Austrian food often so perhaps that is how they are supposed to be seasoned. The cranberry sauce and potato salad that came with the cutlets were delicious.
Next visit I plan to try their famous pretzel and either the bratwurst or the Käsekrainer-Bratwurst burger.

I am a fan of green eggs and ham, Sam, I am! First time having it and I've always been weary of running eggs but it was the crisp of the egg bottom with the flavor of the ham and the creaminess of the spinach that made my adult taste buds take notice! Just dash a punch of salt.. all in all, good plate good Mims and the service was exceptional! ?Be sure to bring u a lil cash ??
