The hot sopressata pie was good but it was really the vodka pie that blew me away. Their crust is definitely something special. Caesar salad was also a standout of the meal. Wonderful service. Came with friends on a Friday evening and it took about 35 mins for us to be seated for a party of 5, not too bad! Place was packed and busy with people dining in and picking up takeaway, but the food came out quite quickly — I was impressed!

One of the best pizzas I've ever had, certainly the best pizza in the neighborhood. Their selection of specialty pies is interesting, but the underlying elements, the sauce, the dough, the cheese, the toppings, they're all top notch. The bar is terrific, they make amazing cocktails, great beer selection, and the staff are delightful.

Not sure how I haven’t rated sooner, we absolutely love this place. The pizza is always incredible, the meatballs are definitely a sleeper hit on the apps. But last night we were there and the Bay Ridge (a vodka pie) was just out of this world, better than any of the other times I’ve had it (and it’s one of my regulars). So happy to have such a wonderful and special restaurant in the neighborhood. If you’re looking to come, no reservations (except for 5pm), all guests must be there to be seated, and there isn’t a large dining space so larger parties might wait. In the better weather, they also have a wonderful backyard set up.

I'd like to open with an apology to the host on 11/15 for my rudeness. I walked out in frustration because this is the third or fourth time I've planned my entire day around showing up the minute they open, weekend or weekday, and was simply unable to get in.
The pizza is truly some of the best in NYC, the staff & service are incredible, the owner is a super nice, down to earth guy.
If you are coming from an article or review, making rounds of the best pies in NYC, etc, you will have an excellent experience.
This review is a love letter and also a letter of mourning. It was hard to get a table before the NYT article, but now I feel it's no longer somewhere I could plan to take a date or celebrate an occasion without risking disappointment.

Amazing pizza, delicious cocktails, and the kindest, most generous staff you could hope for. Everything tasted incredible and the service made the whole experience feel extra special. Can’t wait to go back!

The setup at Wheated is the classic neighborhood spot—bar up front, tables in back, open kitchen so you can watch your pizza go into the oven. It's cozy without trying too hard, and the vibe is welcoming whether you're here for a quick slice or settling in with drinks.
Wheated nails the thing that matters most: the crust. They make it with sourdough starter instead of commercial yeast. There's this tanginess and depth you don't get elsewhere, plus it's got the perfect crispy-yet-chewy texture that holds up all the way through.
All the pizzas are named after Brooklyn neighborhoods. That doesn't really tell you what's on them, but that's part of the fun. The Brighton Beach is my perhaps my favorite: bacon, garlic, black pepper, mozzarella. It's essentially carbonara pizza and it works perfectly. The bacon gets crispy, the pepper cuts through, and that sourdough crust ties it all together.
The Bay Ridge vodka pie is dangerously good—creamy, rich, the kind of thing you'll randomly crave a week later.
If you want a fully loaded pizza, the Supreme has everything: sausage, mushrooms, onions, olives, pepperoni.
There are also some interesting combinations like the Red Hook (white pie with mortadella, potato, thyme, pistachios) and the Coney Island 2.0 (pineapple and chorizo instead of the usual Hawaiian). I think pineapple on a pizza is a crime against humanity, but maybe worth trying if you like Hawaiian pizza and you're feeling adventurous.
They also do solid meatballs, a good Caesar salad, and the cocktails are affordable with a solid bourbon selection. Weekend brunch adds bagels, biscuits, and sausage gravy to the mix.
Bottom line: this is the kind of place that adds minimal value to your neighborhood. That sourdough crust alone makes it worth going out of your way for.

Great food. It's a small restaurant so make sure to go at opening for a table without a wait.

Ordered the bay ridge pie to go and after the first bite I was in heaven. An amazing, tasty and crispy slice. The only negatives was the price and that I should’ve ordered 2 pies because me and my friend devoured the whole pie in seconds.

Is there any spot more perfect than Wheated? I’ve been coming here for years and the pizza is always fantastic and the service is stellar. The bagels are my favorite in New York but I know they’re not currently on the menu permanently. I will manifest this for myself.
