My favorite dine in restaurant in the neighborhood. They have the best noodle soups and Hainan chicken rice. Their clams are fresh and go well with any type of noodle soups.

Pretty good hainan chicken!
We ordered the Curry Chicken with white rice. I never had this before, so I don't have anything to compare it too. But it did not impressed me. A little pricey. Quick service.

Ipoh Kitchen is a popular Malaysian restaurant in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. It was recommended by my relative's malaysian friend, so I assumed their dishes are quite authentic.
We went there in a group of 8 so we ordered a whole spread of their signatures. Our all-time favorite is def the Grilled Satay Chicken (we tried satay beef before it wasn't as good).
Our recs:
- Grilled Satay Chicken
- Hainanese chicken (whole)
- Sizzling Black Pepper Beef
- Saraug Burong
- Ipoh Coffee
Not recommend:
- Ipoh Fried Pearl Noodle
- Golden Spare Ribs
In general, their dishes were indeed flavorful, yet quite oily and heavy for my liking. Better get Iced Ipoh Coffee to quench your thirst (very rich and creamy!)

The food was good, but I ordered the Indian Mee Goreng and they failed to mention that they include shrimp in it. I’ve had mee goreng many times in my life and they’ve never put whole shrimp, or at least there was a warning for shrimp. I have a severe allergy to shrimp and didn’t see them because they were at the bottom and proceded to have an allergic reaction. I can’t lie, it tasted very good but if you have food allergies definitely make it clear no matter what you order if you go here.Edit: came here again and ordered the pan fried noodle expecting a usual noodle dish with soft chewy noodles fried in a sauce, however i got deep fried noodles an egg drop soup essentially with assorted vegetables. would’ve helped if there’s descriptions of the food on the menu so i knew. the bigger issue is that there was shrimp again! with no warning on the menu! thankfully i saw it before i started eating
I forgot to take a picture of the sizzling black pepper beef. 1️⃣ It’s not the way to make sizzling black pepper at all, it’s just the way to make ordinary stir-fried beef. 2️⃣ The oily rice is very dry and hard. I suspect there’s not enough water. 3️⃣ I ordered the beef soup rice noodles. , I was given pork, 4️⃣ beef fried rice noodles was given to me shrimp, it was just like Jesus, the product was completely wrong, if there is no beef, you can tell me that one part is wrong and forget it, three parts are wrong, it is outrageous, I won’t do it again There will be next timeI forgot to take pictures of the black pepper beef on an iron plate. Firstly, it wasn't prepared as black pepper beef; it was just a regular stir-fried beef. Secondly, the fried rice was dry and hard, suspecting it lacked enough water. Thirdly, I ordered beef soup with flat rice noodles, but received pork instead. Fourthly, the beef stir-fried flat rice noodles contained shrimp instead. It's utterly unacceptable, as all three orders were incorrect. If there was an issue with the beef, you could have informed me about it once, but getting all three orders wrong is beyond reasonable. There won't be a next time.

The curry chicken seems to be deep-fried. The chicken is not tasty enough, but the mixed rice noodles are delicious.

Finally, a Hainanese Chicken and Rice dining location near me!I'm not saying there are NO locations near me that serve this dish, but all the other places are a good 30 to 40-minute walk away. This one is like 10 minutes away, and it's affordable and pretty damn good.Sure, there is Hainan Chicken House, which is famous on instagram or tiktok, located in the Brooklyn Chinatown, but have you ever tried to get a seat there? It's packed full of people hopping onto a trend. So instead of going to those flashe in a pan social media, famous locations. Check out a slightly off the beaten track location like Yi Poh Kitchen. For appetizer obviously you gotta start with the Rotai Canai. A flaky, airy flatbread served with a side of chicken curry for dipping. The chicken curry here is tender, juicy, and boneless with just the right amount of heat. Though I have noticed a trend with the roti served in malaysian eateries and that they're not as puffy and crispy as they used to be, a sad change but not a deal breaker. Now on to the entrees. My brother ordered the Bake Curry Chicken and Rice, which he loved. It was chocked full of chicken curry (possibly the same chicken curry that is served in the roti canai) on top of rice which is then covered in a layer of cheese and baked until everything is a bubbly gooey bowl of deliciousness. It's quite a bit of food as my brother was unable to finish it. I had the quintessential hainanese chicken and rice. The rice is a fragrant rice cooked in chicken broth with hints of ginger. The chicken is a mix of white and dark meat (both juicy and tender) with a sweet garlicky soy sauce poured over it. There is also a side of garlic hot sauce if you want more of a kick. I love this dish so much I could eat a whole chicken's worth of meat in one sitting. One thing I did note is that the 1st time I visited, the chicken was boneless, but this time, it wasn't. It's not a big deal, just something I noticed. So if you are in the mood for good malaysian/Singaporean cuisine but don't want to wait for a seat at those crowded and hyped up locations on 8th Avenue. Check this place out.
