Yiasou is a fine dining, but casual, Greek restaurant. Do not confuse their food with Greek diner fare. This is cooking like you would find in Greece at an Estiatorio by the sea. The preparations are delicious, with choices for every palate. While they specialize in fish and seafood we go there too when we crave rack of lamb or a perfectly prepared rib eye steak. Their grilled octopus is tender with just the right amount of char. The pikilia is a delicious platter of all the best spreads Greece produces. The huge choice of fresh fishes from Greece and US waters, langoustines (one of our favorites), lobsters, etc are displayed in front of the open kitchen for all to see and choose from. The preparation is clean and simple with excellent greek olive oil and lemon. Even the potato, or rice, with vegetables that accompany the dishes is too good to ignore. They have plenty of meat, chicken and other dishes to keep everyone happy from parties of 2 to large groups. There is a full bar and an extensive and eclectic wine list. But, make certain to leave room for dessert...you won't regret the decision. We have been regulars since they opened and waited with bated breath till they reopened after the devestation of Hurricane Sandy. The best restaurant in Sheepshead Bay by far and right up there with the Greek restaurants in Manhattan.

Update: Whenever we visit Brooklyn, as we did today September 9, 2025, we have dinner at Yiasou. We have never had anything but an excellent meal here. Tonight was no exception. We were going to take home some of the Horiatiki but the tomatoes were so flavorful that we kept nibbling on it until it was gone. We love soft shell crabs but the best preparation anywhere is at Yiasou. The sauce is incredible and if the staff had removed our plate, before we mopped up the sauce with our bread...we'll it's a good thing they didn't try!
We were in the mood for meat tonight and the rack of lamb was perfectly cooked to medium and the chops were tender and melt in your mouth tasty.
We were so full that we had to get our cheesecake to go. We never leave there without a slice.
Yiasou has the best staff led by Peter, Anna and their son Michael. In all the years they're been in Sheepshead Bay we've never left Yiasou without a big grin on our faces and a full happy belly.

The atmosphere was great and the service was very good but I personally was not a fan of the food. My family also wasn’t a fan and it was extremely expensive.

A great greek restaurant who has been for years . Can't skip this place while in brooklyn. Love their fish selection and great prices on wines . It definitely has a great consistency behind it . Always happy smile service with a professional attitude. Great place for special occasions.

This used to be our to-go spot every weekend. Lately, both restaurants are lacking in service. We went to Yiasou a couple of weeks ago and asked for extra olives, was charged $6 for 6 extra olives. I certainly do not expect anything for free but I think charging half the price of the whole salad for extra olives is not ok. Lately visited Next Door, also owned by the same owners and we had to ask for the side because the water decided to just skip it. The owners are very pleasant ppl but I guess the management is lacking. Too bad the only decent spot to dine in sheepshead bay is falling apart.

This is a wonderful place where you truly feel immersed in the atmosphere of Greece. All the waiters are very friendly, and the service is outstanding. The food is a form of art on its own — everything was incredibly delicious. The grilled fish is simply top-notch! Cleanliness and care are felt in every detail. We’ll definitely come back with the whole family, more than once!

We stumbled upon Yiasou on a recommendation—and what a discovery it was. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm lighting and tasteful Mediterranean décor set the scene for a truly memorable evening.

The menu dazzles with an impressive array of fresh seafood—briny oysters, plump shrimp, and perfectly grilled octopus that tasted of the sea. And then there was the lamb: tender, succulent, and done three ways (marinated chops, slow-roasted leg, and whole roasted rack). Each preparation showcased layers of flavor, from bright lemon and oregano to rich garlic and rosemary.

Service was nothing short of exceptional. Our waitress, Lolita, balanced genuine warmth with remarkable efficiency—checking in just the right amount, offering expert pairing suggestions, and ensuring our glasses stayed full. It’s rare to feel so well cared for, even on a busy weeknight.

All told, Yiasou delivers on every promise of honest, inspired Greek cuisine. Whether you’re craving the catch of the day or a hearty lamb feast, this is the place to go—and don’t miss the chance to be served by Lolita. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Yiasou with my best friend, who had been raving about it, calling it the best restaurant in Brooklyn — and now I completely understand why. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations.
The grilled octopus was absolutely divine — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. I can honestly say I’ve never had such delicious octopus anywhere else. And the tiramisu? Heavenly! Creamy, rich, and the perfect sweet ending to our meal.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They took the time to help us choose the right dishes and even recommended cocktails that paired beautifully with our food. Everything was made with care and served with genuine hospitality.
At the end of our meal, they surprised us with warm, freshly baked cookies — such a thoughtful and heartwarming touch that made the experience feel even more special.
Thank you so much to everyone at Yiasou for such a memorable evening. I will definitely be returning soon with my family!

This is the most dishonest restaurant I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot. I barely write bad reviews because I don’t want to mess with people’s livelihood but they stole our money. They add a tip without even even noting it on the check and then they create a phony check with their own signature. They stole my friends money who contributed for the check and added it to the tip on top of that making 240 dollar tip that was never agreed upon while charging us the full amount. They saw we were overwhelmed with babies and took advantage. These people are thief’s and I’ll make sure to tell everyone to avoid them like the plague. Not to mention I had the worst food poisoning I ever had that night.

Hosted a 30 person party at the rooftop on Yaisou this weekend. Working with the staff was so easy, everyone was extremely accommodating. The vibes were great, great music and energy. The food was excellent as we’ve come to expect from Yaisou and Next door. The bartender also did an amazing job with cocktails and mocktails. Highly recommend this spot for a birthday party or a fun local night out.

This was the worst Mother’s Day experience ever we came to enjoy Mother’s Day. The food was horrible. The service was horrible complain to the owner. The woman came to the table with a nastiest attitude possible she shouldn’t be allowed to speak to people all she said, was shame on you didn’t offer any resolutions we come to this place every single year for either Mother’s Day or Father’s Day this is the last time we would go to this place. They’re greedy they overbook and there’s no service whatsoever

We came with our family today on Mothers day. We only got a partial order after 2,5 hours waiting. The owner came up and did not apologize for the service and was very unprofessional and root. I will not come back to this restoration again.
