i came here sometime at the end of january to celebrate my new mum-in-law and sister-in-laws birthdays w the fam. we packed out a table of 10 adults and 3 children, there was lots of space and things for kids, but overall the vibe inside was just real cozy. its a great spot for families. what blew me away most was our waitress. i wish i remembered her name right now, but she made be realize that i hadnt had a genuine, good service in years. i admired her care and attention to detail. i would literally go back just for the service we received from her. for dinner, i got the steak- it was honestly one of the best steaks ive had also. i will be coming back here again! 10/10

This place is awesome. After going for dinner with my 3 year old daughter the week prior, I booked it for her 4 year birthday and invited her closest friends and parents. On request, they seated us upstairs by the PLAY AREA (!!) which is incredible feature for parents with toddlers who prefer to nibble - play - nibble. The girls had a great time playing while we enjoyed some delightful adult beverages. For 9 of us we had the prix fixe menu which was a mountain of food (also great gluten free options for my celiac wife, that we could all enjoy including GF cacio pepe). Not only that, but on arranging beforehand, they made my daughter a chocolate birthday cake with sprinkles and wrote her name on it and brought it out for a birthday moment! Our waitress was excellent at keeping an eye out on the chaos of the dinner and what we wanted / when. And NONE of the food went to waste - they packed up three individual takeaway bags for each party member to take home. Incredibly important, we are enjoying round 3 this evening. Phenomenal service. Our daughter loved it, especially the cake! Finally a place where you don't feel judged to bring your toddler to dinner. Bravo team - bringing some European kid culture to Dumbo eateries. Thank you

Ziggy’s Roman Cafe in Dumbo is a must-visit. You have to order the made-in-house sausage and the bucatini pasta...both were incredible. The mac n’ cheese (with hidden veggies in the sauce!) was another favorite, and you won’t regret ending with the Nutella pizza. Sweet staff, great vibes, amazing drinks, and truly tasty food.

I really wanted to love this spot! Great cocktails, food, and kid-friendly? Sounds perfect. We went at prime family time (aka 5:15) and were seated upstairs. It was pretty narrow and cramped, which I know is standard for an nyc restaurant, but the downstairs area was spacious and airy. They seated the majority of the families upstairs, so it felt tight and chaotic.

We enjoyed the cocktails and food. It was solid, but didn’t wow us. The server was really warm and on the ball. The biggest thing that stood out to me was that it the kid-friendly part felt a bit like an afterthought. Both of their bathrooms were tiny and neither had a changing table. They didn’t have a kids menu available, but offered options if you asked, and they put all the families in a tight area next to a staircase. I loved the concept of this spot, but was a bit bummed that a few things weren’t thought through.

We recently hosted a private event at Ziggys and could not have been happier. Helen and her team went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and accommodated while curating a custom event for us. Also, it doesn't hurt that the food was insanely delicious. Highly highly recommend Ziggys! 🔥🔥🔥

Sat at the bar in this newly opened, kid friendly concept Italian restaurant. Being a northern Italian cuisine place, I tried the cacio e pepe, which was average. A good strong pepper flavor and the pasta was just right- al dente. However it came swimming in a bowl of grey sauce, rather than the traditional smooth glossy sauce clinging to the pasta. Also ordered the carbonara rigatoni, which was tasty if a little salty. This also came in a bowl with the same grey sauce, so maybe it's used as a base for all pasta dishes. The Ruccola salad was delicious, and a generous portion size. We had friendly service, but did sit without drinks and empty plates for a while at the end. The bar area was kid free but there were lots running around, as to be expected in a kid friendly place. Would visit again for drinks, and would like to try the pizzas. Total cost: $100 minus tip for two mains, a salad and two non alcoholic drinks.

As an Italian, I can say this place is amazing. The pizza is the best I’ve had in New York, and the coffee is excellent. Great quality, friendly service, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended. 🇮🇹🍕☕

Nice atmosphere with kid’s play area, but…

The cacio e pepe was the most peppery version I’ve ever had. Normally I’d expect a pepper level around 7/10, but this was closer to a full 10/10. The rigatoni (carbonara) was also more pepper-forward than expected—around 8/10, when it would have felt more balanced at about 4/10.

The mushroom fungi crostini leaned very sour, with a generous amount of apple cider vinegar that unfortunately overwhelmed the mushroom flavor. We usually enjoy mushroom dishes, so this was a bit surprising, especially since it was recommended to us.

The iced green citrus ginger drink tasted more like plain tea, with little to no discernible ginger or citrus flavor. Likewise, the hibiscus drink was more flavorful, but still came across as lightly scented water rather than a fully developed beverage. Ginger and citrus flavors are usually noticeable even in subtle preparations, so these drinks felt under-extracted.

No real complaints on the service (though they did give me a dirty fork and served us the wrong order). Meatballs were good. Just go for meatballs. Would come back out of convenience, not because I’m looking for a good meal.

In general, Dumbo isn’t really known as a food destination. The dining scene there tends to feel similar to Midtown—touristy and convenient rather than standout. The difference is that Midtown still has a handful of truly excellent restaurants, whereas Dumbo, in my experience, doesn’t quite offer the same level of standout options.

strange premise, get drunk on fancy cocktails at the bar within earshot of a kids play pen
