Anniversary dinner w/ my wife based off recommendations and reviews.. We did the Unknown Dinner Party and the food/drink pairings were good until third course (the main entree) came out and… duck?!!! What a bold hit or miss selection for the main entree to hope someone is going to enjoy for a $300 bill for a two people. Needless to say, my wife and I prefer our ducks alive and swimming in ponds. They substituted the meal but nothing on par with the cost (some brie pastries/no protein). Not impressed, will stick to Russell’s’ for an expensive dinner date night. Staff was friendly but would not ever go here again.

The chef at Black Iron Bystro is extremely talented and very welcoming - just let him know in advance when you book a table that you are vegan and he'll whip something up. This sophisticated, fine dining restaurant occasionally has theme dinners and we went to their Vegetarian Dinner, which turned out to be wholly vegan. Nirvana!! The cocktails were complex and delicious; the wines paired perfectly with the food and were ones we had never had before; and the food was amazing across all four courses. Beets, cabbage, pasta and gelato were transformed into complex, layered dishes that were interesting and, more importantly, unbelieveably delicious. The physical space is intimate and beautiful and the staff is friendly and well informed about the menu.
Amazing experience, coming from NYC eats this is comes up to par. Full vegan availability, and the service team were also very attentive and helpful. Thank you!

Having eaten at many of the more acclaimed and established restaurants in Buffalo over the years, I have come to the conclusion that Black Iron Bystro is my new favorite restaurant in this area.
The food here is clearly prepared with creativity, care and passion. It has a fusion vibe, with some unusual and fun combinations both times we have been there. Vegetarian substitutions are just as good as the regular dishes. The quality of ingredients is very high, and execution is excellent. All of the food arrives at the perfect temperature and it is genuinely delicious. Portions were substantial but not overwhelming (which is sometimes a Buffalo thing).
The staff and service are friendly and excellent, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Obviously it's a subjective thing, but we really enjoyed the style of music they're playing in the background too. It feels like you're eating at the house of very talented friends rather than just at a restaurant. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Absolutely mind blowing. Do the mystery dinner club - you won't regret it! I would have to put it on par with some of the best restaurants I've been to in NYC or London.

Literally one of the best meals I've ever had. Did the four course dinner club, all courses were delicious with interesting flavor combinations and fresh seasonal ingredients. The Beverage pairings were delicious, two wines and two cocktails that went well with their dishes. All staff was super friendly and accommodating, would highly recommend for a special occasion.

This was seriously one of the best meals I’ve had in Buffalo. We did the A La Carte menu at the bar. Everything was 11/10. So, so good. I’m seriously going to be dreaming about the food. Can’t recommend this place enough!

On a very cold evening the restaurant was a welcome treat to end a long day. The service, menu, food quality, timeliness, cocktails, and ambiance were each and all a bullseye. The best food we’ve ever had in Buffalo was right here.

Had a wonderful experience last night. The food was amazing (we did the dinner club). I am gluten free, and I never felt like I was "missing out" on gluten with the food that I got. It was all SO good. It was nice to sit back and enjoy a meal without worrying about trying to figure out if a meal has gluten or not. The drinks were amazing as well.
We used to go to BIB when it was on South Park often, and it was nice to go back and experience it again in a new setting. We will be back!
Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free options were amazing!

Absolutely delicious food, cocktails, paired with a moody, sleek atmosphere. They're able to whip up vegetarian or pescatarian meals if needed (and likely other dietary restrictions) without compromising flavor or plating.
This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Buffalo -- I recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal with fresh ingredients that you can't find anywhere else in town!
