We dropped in to check out Bratts Hill and enjoy a nightcap. Despite the high energy and a full house, the bartenders were incredibly welcoming. The lighting was perfectly dialed in, enhancing the upscale atmosphere. We noticed delicious-looking dishes heading to tables and plenty of happy guests. With roll-up doors at both the front and rear, I imagine this would be a fantastic, breezy spot during the summer months.

We finally had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful meal at Bratts Hill. We are fans of Chef Darian and have been trying to get here since he opened. First of all the space is intimate, warm and lovely. We were seated quickly and received top notch service from start to finish. We started our meal with seared scallops. They were cooked perfectly and the bacon bourbon jam was a perfect addition to the butternut squash puree. It was the perfect bite and all the flavors blended perfectly. There was the perfect amount of spice in this dish, which is what we were hoping to see here. For my main I had the seafood risotto. It was a nice sized portion and there was a lot of seafood. Everything was cooked, portioned and seasoned wonderfully. My meal was very rich so I left very full and happy.

The only thing I’ll mention which isn’t meant to be a complaint is that I thought there would be more Jamaican spices and touches in more of the dishes. There were some very specific Jamaican dishes but I was thinking there might be more fusion in the more contemporary local dishes. I should have asked and not assumed but I guess it means I just have to come back and try more menu items. Can’t wait!

I've never had a disappointing meal from here and I've only had takeout, so that says a lot. The food is always fresh, bold, and is prepared with unmistakable love and care. I'm so grateful! The Jerk Chicken is divine, the oxtail is, too. I loooove the coco bread! And the Ting soda is fun. Oh and the cabbage! It's cooked to perfection! Love the rice too. I order a bit of everything so I can have left overs.
My favorite part about Bratts Hill though? Supporting The Bryan Family, who all embody the resilient, community-driven spirit that Buffalo is all about: hard work, genuine hospitality, and bringing people together through amazing food. If you're craving authentic Jamaican cuisine that nourishes the soul, Bratts Hill is an absolute must! I look forward to visiting the restaurant in person, someday soon.

Before i write my review…I want to go on record and say i always eat from Bratts became one of my favorite restaurants as its the closest to my home cooking in Kingston…Today was a terrible experience…From the girl serving with 1 glove handling food while on her phone…or staff and friends eating food while telling the customers there isn’t no more left…my rice was the bottom of the pan burnt and the girl knew she was scraping the burnt rice into the box…My jerk chicken was not good at ALL and was provided more peppers in my cabbage then actual cabbage..Overall terrible and i will be taking a break from eating here..!

I chose this place to celebrate my 39th birthday with 15 others only to be seated in a tent style extension to the restaurant with heaters plugged in with intentions to warm the area… but it didn’t help much. My guests were uncomfortable and felt like we were on the outside looking in while everyone else enjoyed the music and aesthetic of the actual restaurant. We sat for almost 2 hours before receiving our food. The manager did accommodate us with us soup and pita bread complimentary for the cold air coming through the bottom of the tent but overall the experience between the seating, wait time and miscommunication of the server I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go to this place with a large party. My dinner reservation was at 6 pm and because of the wait for food we didn’t leave until 10:30pm .. unacceptable

Ordered the rasta pasta with half chicken for self and jerk chicken dinner for my neighbor. The pasta was over cooked, sauce bland; hot but not very seasoned a tad runny too. I placed my order via postmates perhaps an in person visit would be a better outcome?

As a die-hard Notre Dame fan, I walked into Bratts Hill by Chef Darian feeling like I was stepping into a prime Irish showdown — pre-game optimism in the air, the fight song echoing in my head, and my hopes as high as the Golden Dome. I was ready for a meal that would hit like CJ Carr dropping a perfect deep ball and Jeremiyah Love breaking free downfield.
My order was simple: a mixed drink, Caesar salad, and the salmon dinner.
The food came out firing on all cylinders — a true first-drive touchdown. The Caesar salad was crisp, fresh, and dressed with the kind of precision you’d expect from a perfectly executed offensive line led by Billy Schrauth. Each crunchy bite was like a clean third-down conversion. Then came the salmon — golden on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. This wasn’t just cooked; it was orchestrated like a Jeremiyah Love run straight through the defense. Honestly, if salmon could suit up, this one would’ve been wearing blue and gold.
Then came the service, and that’s where the game tape gets ugly. My drink took longer than a replay review at the end of the fourth quarter. Getting a refill felt like calling audibles with no one on the same page. The staff disappeared like a cornerback on busted coverage. At one point, I swear I was staring down the sideline like a frustrated coach wondering where the team went. If the food was CJ Carr threading the needle, the service was a fumbled snap at the one-yard line.
The check eventually showed up — a victory, but not the kind that makes SportsCenter.
Here’s the box score:
Offense (Food): Explosive. First-round draft pick quality.
Defense & Special Teams (Service): Missed tackles. Blown coverages. Delay of game penalties.
Would I come back? Absolutely — for the food. The kitchen deserves a standing ovation under the lights at Notre Dame Stadium. But the service needs some serious coaching, maybe a spring game or two, before it’s ready to compete at a playoff level.
Final score:
Food: 48
Service: 17
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐
If you love Notre Dame football, you’ll cheer for the Caesar and salmon like they just scored in the fourth quarter. Just don’t expect the servers to recover the onside kick.
