Had a late afternoon to kill, went in for a burger. Decor is as others described, but the TVs were a bit noisy with MTV blaring a bunch of 90s to 00s alt rock, pop and lots of hip-hop + r&b. It was incongruous, a little grating, and seemed weirdly at odds with the clientele.Clarissa (IIRC) was delightful, and helped me pick the right beer for my mood (Sam Smith's Nut Brown Ale). Was profoundly disappointed to learn they had no kind of fries or hashbrowns available at all, thanks to the postage stamp-sized kitchen having only a grill. The chips would have to do, but at least the Independence burger was excellent.If all you're out for is atmosphere and a beer, this is a quaint, appealing spot, and if you get peckish, the food is quite tasty. (Though a hot plate to make some hash browns or scrambled eggs would add another star here. )

Founding Fathers is filled with US History memorabilia, and its owner/bartender is super personable and knowledgeable on all things historical. I would classify it as a dive bar, good ambiance and not too loud, east to talk to others while there. The food is like sophisticated bar food. Inventive sandwiches and sides. I believe they still do trivia night, very cool. Mike the bartender keeps everyone entertained with trivia on pop culture, history, and his witty conversation. Highly recommended!

The bartenders and cooks have gotten really surly and inattentive lately. After beng a regular customer for 35 years, that is really sad. That said the food is still really good if you can handle the now dreadful atmosphere. I was there a few nights ago, late at night and being really tired, I started to nod off a few times while drinking my beer. That didn't sit well with the bartender who took my remaining beer and poured it out, When I complained about that and refused to pay for my undrunk beer, I was thrown out of the bar and forbidden from ever coming back again. Their loss as I have spent thousands of dollars ithere n the many times I have been there,

Really good bar service and the French Onion Soup was solid. I really enjoyed the Fried Bologna Sandwich as well. Bartender was basically an encyclopedia for Presidential history and great conversation starter. Would definitely drop in here for a beer and food!

Crowd is mixed ages. Pro: historical décor provokes conversation, fair pricing. Con: very small, with questionable parking. Mostly a pregame spot.
Highly recommended Mr. Mickey has good service and feels like friends. Thank you Mrs. Mike for accepting our visit from the Peruvians, Brazilians and Peruvians from Virginia in her bar.
