Fresh homemade Afghan food. My friend said the lamb was the best that he'd ever had, it was very tender, and also said the rice was very flavorful. The bolani had a great texture, fresh and soft. Low prices for such large portions. The owner was very kind, helpful and accommodating. I wish them much success.

Absolutely delicious! I have been wanting to try Afghani food for so long and it lived up to my desires. For those looking to visit their pop-up shop at the Broadway Market, enter through the main doors on Broadway and walk along the left side until you reach the back left corner. They are in the space under the "Kitchen @ The Market" sign.

Don't know how long this restaurant will be at the Broadway Mkt and wanted to give it a try in case it disappears. Afghani food, a great addition to Buffalo's food scene! As noted by other reviewers, the menu is limited, but the food is delicious, the portions are generous, the service is friendly, and it's worth going out of your way to the market to enjoy. Had the Qabuli Palow, which, as noted by others, doesn't have a significant amount of lamb in it, but the lamb that is there is tender and tasty. The rice, with all the additions, is different from any I've had before and very good. Couldn't eat it all, but it was still very good the next day. The bolani was my favorite! Flatbread filled with leeks and potatoes, with sour cream and spicy green tomato sauce in separate containers for the to-go order. (They have no seating of their own, but there are table and chairs at the market where you could sit and enjoy the food there.) Don't try to pick up the flatbread and eat it with your hand unless you're looking to have a bit of a mess on your hand....this is NOT a criticism, just a warning! Hadn't intended to eat all of it at once (it's large), but it was too good to stop eating. Hopefully, business has been good enough that they will get a more permanent spot at the market. and, no styrofoam!

A must try! Open on Friday afternoons in the Broadway Market, Khoshmazeh offers a sampler platter of three of their menu items for just $23!! The platter comes with 3 LARGE pieces of Bolani, which is a flatbread filled with veggies, as well as Qabuli Palaw, a rice pilaf with a chunk of lamb and served with salatah, and 6 beef dumplings (mantu). You can substitute the beef for vegan dumplings. The portions are large and enough to feed about 3-4 people. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and was filling! I really want to try the vegan dumplings the next time I go, but just a heads up, these take about 30 minutes for them to make. The guys working were friendly and professional, and the food was truly fantastic. I highly recommend trying them out! Check their Facebook page for specials.

This is a tasty new pop-up in the Kitchen at the Market in The Broadway Market. They seem to be trying it out to see how it goes, and I hope it goes well! Afghan would be a great new regional cuisine to add to Buffalo's diverse food offerings. The menu is limited for the moment, but more than enough for a filling meal for at least two people. I didn't think to take a picture before we started eating so it's a terrible representation of it, but the portions are generous. The bolani is a stuffed, layered bread that can be leek, potato, or both. We got one with both. The yogurt that comes with is rich and creamy, and the green sauce tastes like a mildly spicy mix of cilantro and jalapeños, maybe? The mantoo are nicely sized ground meat dumplings in a sauce that has yellow split peas and yogurt and not sure exactly what else, but it's very tasty. The Qabuli palow is a rice pilaf that has some nice chunks of lamb and nuts, raisins, and carrot shreds. The lamb seems very browned on the outside, but the inside is juicy and fork tender! The raisins add a really nice touch of sweetness. The tomato salad that comes with is fresh and tangy. (Wikipedia says this pilaf is a national dish of Afghanistan.) Everything was fresh, tasty, and you got plenty of it, and the prices are very reasonable for so much. The owners seem very nice and picking up at the window was quick and easy. You do have to park and go inside the Market, but just go back in the corner near Camellia Meats and you'll see the Kitchen at the Market. If you'd like more info, check their Facebook page and the article in the Buffalo News. You should give them a try! Update: Went there again and it's still yummy! Also a bargain. They have a special, now, where you get one order of palow, one of mantoo, and 3 bolani, with the sides. It's a great deal with enough food for three people. Or two very hungry ones. Took pics of each before we ate this time, too. I will note that some people might be expecting lots of lamb in the palow. Personally, I think a few chunks is fine since it's very rich meat and the point is the rice, but some people may want more. However, that would also have to raise the cost quite a bit and make it a much heavier dish. So don't judge too quickly because it's not half a lamb in there. This is a good deal and tastes great.

Although I found out a day late about Khoshmazeh, I find Afghani cuisine is delicious and unique. I have several Afghan friends in Baltimore and have dined with them at their home many times.... A food genre long absent and missing from the Buffalo International restaurant scene is now here! Its a must for all to sample these flavors and texture combination.

Fabulous gem hidden inside the broadway market! Just asked for a plate of the best stuff, and got two meals worth of rice, pork, chicken curry, egg roll and some shrimp chips. Also a can of mango juice! The food is fantastic and there is nothing like it in town.
