The food here is top notch, and the service is excellent. Gourmet food and good prices. Have been to both the Buffalo and Ellicottville locations multiple times and the food never disappoints. The management is clearly doing an excellent job here.
We picked this restaurant based on reviews. It looked like a really cool atmosphere. There were 3 of us, including my wife and mother in law. We were excited for the cocktail menu-just to be told oh this one and that one are no longer on the menu, this is for fall. It’s June, so why is it out then? Next they were out of ravioli, and then my wife ordered a resiling and they were out of that too. By that point we were pretty frustrated because they seemed to be out of everything we ordered. We ended up walking out. Disappointed to say the least. We don’t mind spending money, but it’s a Friday night, your an Italian restaurant out of ravioli and a pretty basic wine.
Our first time here and Lauren was an excellent server who made our experience very nice!!! Good drinks, excellent bread and ravioli and meatball were excellent!
Food and service always the best. I highly recommend the homemade ravioli
Love this place. I will miss it.
This review is so long overdue. My girlfriend and I (with her recommendation) ate her on March 8, 2024. Upon walking in we were greeted and seated with no waiting. The atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. The staff was friendly and our waiters were very polite and helpful in choosing the best food on the menu. The food was delicious and cooked well. Osteria 166 will definitely be recommended to my friends and family. I cannot wait to dine here again!
A friend of ours made a reservation for 9 of us to go to dinner the night before our team game. We walked from our hotel, about 2 blocks, but the area is kind of sketchy - stay in groups vs alone. Reservation was easy, hostess was very pleasant, we sat at a table near the back. Drinks started flowing, very good I may add, and then appetizers were ordered for the table - all very tasty. Dinner was ordered and delivered, hot, fresh and very good. I had the eggplant parm and it was sliced thin and very tasty. We had more drinks and called it a night. Negros were solid, pinot noir was enjoyable as well.
Osteria 166!! Absolutely the best food in Buffalo and our favorite hands down Italian restaurant with the best meatballs I ever had besides my grandma's, that I haven't had since she passed, so these are now the best I can get. The menu is great with something for everyone and whatever you're in the mood for from flatbread pizza to homemade pasta with the most amazing sauces, delicious salads, fantastic steak and the freshest Italian desserts. if you can save room. We have to get them to go home. It's so hard to decide that we get several things and go family style sharing and going around the menu. bravo Nani in the meatballs! they are a must! great friendly service and beautiful atmosphere. sometimes the acoustic music in the bar. what a gem we love walking distance to the theater district, we try to go before shows and park and enjoy the evening starting with the best meal and drinks before a show downtown. Don't think twice about trying this place! make reservations.

Food was not great, below average, Caesar salad had flavorless dressing and anchovies, yuk. Bolognaise had very little flavor and an odd flavor I can’t describe. Service was good though, atmosphere sucked.
The margarita pizza was tasty and the stuffed pepper risotto sticks were delicious. This restaurant has a pleasant ambiance and was perfect for us having enjoyed eating here, along with the excellent service.
We reserve a table for 6. Me, my wife and 4 kids. The food, ok. When I look at the check, they charge me with a "Party charge of 22%". Because we are so many. This is my 6 time in the US, we have been in Canada, mexico, panama, brasil, peru, colombia, argentina, chile, spain, italy, holland, germany, etc, and we havent seen this before. I can understand it, if I make a birthday party, but if so, they have got to tell it before, no after.
Thanks to this lovely dining venue we celebrated two birthdays and got just the send-off we needed for the theater. The eggplant parm was crusty and freshly fried before just the right amount of sauce and cheese was baked with it, the salads were lovely. Others with me enjoyed the salmon. I was a guest in Buffalo, but my local host enjoys visiting here all the time and swears by them. Friendly and warm. Thanks!
We had dinner here on a Wednesday before our show & Juliet at Shea's. I booked a reservation online a few days before arrival. We walked over from our hotel, and walked to the theater. We like to have 5PM reservations for a 7:30 show wherever we go for theater. At 5, the serving staff is fresh and relaxed. By 5:30 it gets a bit busier...by 6 chaos is reigning!!! Our timing was great! We had the full dining experience. Ordered a bottle of house Pinot Grigio. Our appetizer was Buffalo Calamari, which was only OK. For entrees we chose Bolognese and Eggplant Milanese. Both were excellent. For dessert we had Vanilla Gelato with chocolate chips...and Limoncello. We do recommend this restaurant as a great place for dinner!
