Took a while to get seated; which was understandable we didn't have reservations.Afterwards service was very slow. We order crab cakes, a burger, and make your own smores.I was never asked how I wanted my burger, but it came out burnt. My girlfriend's crab cake turned out good though, the waiter then brought out the check but forgot our dessert. We asked about the dessert and the waiter brought out the wrong dessert; she then apologized and said she had a case of the Monday's (It was Tuesday though)The dessert she brought out was more expensive then what we ordered (I was charged more for it), and had stale pretzels, stale vanilla wafers and moldy/old strawberries.Never were we asked if everything was going well, we never got a water refill (till I asked about it), and in total it took longer then than an hour after everything was said and done.Keep in mind we were the last ones there, and it wasn't packed at all. Personally, I think they thought that because we are a young couple that they could get away with poor service.
One of my favorite places in Buffalo Downtown. The chocolate martinis are too die for. I love the Chocolate Orange Martini and the Nutella Martini. Others are great as well, but for my taste, these 2 take the crown.
The drinks were unique and good. The food was alright. The price of the food does not match to the amount you get and/or quality. And we didn't like that instead admitting that they were short-staffed as to why we couldn't sit at a table, we were told because we didn't have a reservation. And there were a plenty of empty tables open while we dined at the bar. The bartender was cool.
Mouth watering desserts!! Amazing fusion cocktails.
Decadent desserts and drinks. Just enjoy it and don't think about the calories.
Ive eaten here several times trying different dishes and most of what Ive had ranges from good to mediocre..nothing amazing...its way overpriced for the portion size and quality. Ive had a few desserts and nothing was anything to write home about. youre better off going to the bakery at a grocery store. however the hot chocolates are delicious! the chocolate straws are a fantastic touch! the carrot cake is NOT good, it was dry and the frosting had a taste like perfume or something- that went in the garbage...not enjoyable at all and a complete waste of $. also when i ordered a burger on door dash, i said not to include the usual chips and aioli, but asked in place of those for some onion straws on the burger. they charged me an extra $1.20 for that. seriously? they couldnt call it even? the photo is a dessert that cost $8!! a skinny little sliver that was just ok. the brownie was bland. not rich and sweet. update** the burgers here used to be one of the best around, seemed fresh and hand made, but the last time i ordered the meat was awful! like it had been frozen for years, the texture was terrible and it looked like pre-formed frozen burgers that tasted nothing like the original burgers from less than a year ago. total disappointment that they cut corners on quality to save $.
I have been to the chocolate bar before and loved it. I took my sister and boyfriend on 11/18 and was very disappointed. I was served a s’mores sundae that was practically soup. I don’t like sending food back, but it was inedible. I asked my server for another sundae and he was kind and told me his manager said it could not be done, but asked if I would like to speak with the manager. She came up and was rude and dismissive from the beginning. She claimed it was soft because of the hot fudge. I have had this dessert before and it was wonderful and NOT soup. My boyfriend also had a sundae with hot fudge and it was not melted. Yet, she insisted it was the hot fudge and would not remake it. She said the owner would get mad at her. She was not kind and it was the worst customer service I’ve ever had. Our waiter was still delightful and apologetic for the incident, where as she was not. Upon leaving, our waiter wished us a good night and the manager glared at us with a smug look. I don’t know how someone with such disrespect was the manager for the night. I will never return and I advise you to avoid this place. Spend money where the people treat you right.
Our bartender Alanzo was awesome... However the food was less than mediocre....The martinis were great ??
Awful customer service!! On 11/12 myself and two friends wanted to come here after dinner for fun drinks and dessert. We walk in, stood there for a few minutes..no one said hello, or even acknowledged our presence. So we assumed, do we seat ourselves? So we sat at a table. We asked a worker if we could have menus? Her attitude was repulsive and unprofessional. She yelled at us for seating ourselves!! Even after we told her no one greeted or said anything to us. After waiting and waiting for a hostess to come by and talk to us, maybe take our order? We went to the bar to grab our own drinks as we are having drinks the rude waitress (covered in tattoos) was scolding us everytime she walked by. Needless to say we left and got dessert at the curtiss hotel where we felt welcomed and the hospitality was pleasant. Not coming here again. We felt very uncomfortable.
The food was decent. The drinks are what we went for and they were tasty as usual. The service was better than most in the area but still left something to be desired.

The drink I had was beyond delicious! The bartender was super sweet and helpful and I absolutely love the decor. I'm definitely coming back as soon as I'm able! ??
Sad to say this place has went downhill. I recently went after not going for 5 years and man...The drinks are not good and the place does not look as nice as it use to. It was a great idea, but something is wrong now.
Picture this....Friday, 5:00 PM...Chippewa Street....downtown Buffalo..Shea's event going on, Bills Pre-game parties everywhere, Bison's game going on.....My daughter and I have our reservations for dinner and tickets at Shea's for Frozen. Our first Shea's event in a couple of years. Exciting right? We take the subway downtown, it's part of the whole experience, and walk to The Chocolate Bar, Both of us are completely excited to check out the drink menu. We get to the door..it's locked. There is a note on the door saying that the restaurant is closed for a couple of weeks so that their families can get a break!!! I'm not insensitive to the Covid work shortage, I myself struggle with lack of work force, but why are guest still able to make reservations? Why was I receiving emails and text messages confirming my reservation? Thank goodness we were able to find one place to eat before our show!!! That restaurant was amazing and will now be our go to place for the rest of the Sheas season!!! We even took my sister and brother-in-law to the new place last night and they LOVED it as well. So let me thank The Chocolate Bar for introducing me to a different restaurant. One that was accommodating to our last minute emergency, one who served AMAZING cocktails, service, and food.
We arrived a half hour before they closed, we were expecting to get a not so warm welcome. The two girls working were the best, super friendly, made amazing drinks, and the deserts were to die for! it's a touch on the pricey side, but well worth it!
I get COVID messed things up a little but jeez. IT was one of our favorite places to go. Martini flights were great, dessert was fantastic, and there were so many menu options that were stellar. We just went for the first time in about a year this weekend and the interior was different, shows and decorations were taken down, and the menu was cut in half. No flights could be made, burgers could only be cooked well done (and were really the only thing on the menu) and the food was just eh. Very upset with what they did with this place. Was a five star before and sadly wont be going back until I hear they made things better.
